Setting up a cube 1 server

by Bomberzocker on 04/25/2009 12:50, 10 messages, last message: 04/27/2009 01:13, 1306 views, last view: 04/16/2024 13:01

Hi!
I want to set up a server with cube 1 on my mac (ppc) to play cube on my Lan with two ipods. I have heard that I have to download the source code. I downloaded it but now I don't know what to do. I think I have to make something like a .cfg file. Is there an application to run servers or sth. in the Terminal?
I'm looking for an answer for days. Please help me.

The Cube Version I downloaded is the iPhone Version

If you've downloaded cube 1 from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=91993 - then it should have a Makefile (possibly a mac xcode project), and some basic documentation in it about running a server.

There are 4 makefiles: "enet/makefile.am" and "scr/Makefile", "enet/include/enet/Makefile.am", "enet/include/Makefile.am" and 3 "makefiles.in" documents.
I tried to run some of them in terminal but there is allways an error.

At a guess (not actually tried it recently), in "scr/Makefile" directory, "make server"
You might need to do a "./configure" in the "enet/" directory first.

EDIT: "src/" directory rather than "scr/Makefile" directory.

You mean a ".cfg" file in the folder "enet"?
I tested all runable unix files to run in terminal but they all don't work.

i remember i had to change several things to get the last cube release to compile on the mac. i'd be surprised if it compiled without issues.

Ok - this will be my last post... So I'll start with a quote from the "readme.txt" - "Do not come ask me for help in compiling or modifying the sources, if you can't figure out how to do this yourself you probably shouldn't be touching the files anyway."
-----

download cube_2005_08_29_src.zip

cd enet
./configure
make --- fails... unknown command aclocal-1.9
edit Makefile -- remove the "-1.9" from aclocal-1.9, automake-1.9
make

cd ../src
make --- fails... sdl, opengl
edit cube.h -- comment out #include lines refering to GL and SDL
make -- fails... gp c++ errors...
edit Makefile -- add "--fpermissive" to CXXOPTFLAGS
make -- fails.. can't find -lenet
edit Makefile -- replace "-lenet" with "../enet/libenet.a"
make

./cube_server

last-last post... minor typo :P

In the src directory it is always:
make server
