Dynamic Lights

Hey guys

I was reading through the release history and noticed that both the summer edition and the edition that is now close to be released names dynamic lights in one way or another.

I was wondering if this would mean more dynamic lights than lightmaps, and if I am misunderstanding this... are there any plans to add fully dynamic lights/shadows to this game engine... I just find the graphics that stunning that its a pity not to have the option to add fully dynamic lighting on more highend computers...

This is not something that can be an "option". It requires basically every single map to be redesigned, and a rather substantial rearchitecting of the engine that would make it incompatible with the way it works now.

Ok, so I take the answer is NO ;)

It would be cool if they made the Cube lighting model for Sauerbraten, only 3D.

Hmm, then how about just adding the ability to insert dynlight entity?

Using the existing dynlight functions it would not be much of work, but would bring a life into light source models (fire/lamps) if used with narrow radius and pulse/fade fx. After all, building maps for Cube has always been result of experimentation (rain fx for example).

Speaking of dynlights.. Now that the muzzle flash is implemented for next release, will you bring back dynlights for weapons as discussed before: http://www.cubeengine.com/forum.php4?action=display_thread&thread_id=1683

I personally have continued to use them since then for CG,rifle(radius 30) and pistol(radius 15). Would really appreciate if I wouldn't have to rebuild Sauer every time just for this ;)

Beside that and -ehem- lack of water splash for projectiles :D I,personally, don't see much "missing" for this kind of game - in current state of development.

SVN changelog looks very good. Regards & respect.
