Some Random Suggestions

by fispaul on 04/01/2009 20:36, 25 messages, last message: 04/03/2009 14:37, 9797 views, last view: 05/18/2024 10:34

Here are some random suggestions, in no particular order. If you have your own, or plan to pu tthis into the game, please comment :)

Weather Conditions: Stuff like snow and rain. NOT like particles all over the map, that causes lag usually, but just plain white lines with a little splash when it hits the ground, but so it looks like rain, also with sounds. Maps like hallo CRY to have rain.

Last man standing: Instagib in this game isn't bad, but One Shot One kill in AC is just soo much better because it it last man standing, which is MUCH better than just instagib in sauerbraten.

Rounds: This is similar to the above, stuff like in AC again. Support for "rounds" in different game modes would be nice, like instagib and team insta, or anything else for that matter.

Detection of edited maps or map security in the first place: You should, just like in AC, AGAIN, NOT be able to edit maps and then save them. Either other people edit maps and cheta, which is just plain annoying, or you do it yourself, which is also not good because you will get banned, or people will kill, and teamkill you.

This is it for now, I will most definetley add more in the future, but I'm tired, bored and sleepy!

#1: Rounds

I'm not sure I made "Rounds" very, clear, again, I'm sleepy. I mena like Round 1, round 2, stuff like that, either a number of rounds, or infinite rounds until a timer is up. Rounds like in AssaultCube One Shot one Kill.

Maphacking could be detected via checksum.

yes and that would be so much helpful, ive noticed to many tele cheaters on ctf.

how about making ragdolls still moveable after death so like you can shoot them and they will move, or maybe a gravity gun like thing

also if the ragdoll works with bones maybe they could put a bone in some map models to give hem physics. etc like crates and spherical objects

This is an open source game. Not that plausible, as far as I know.

#11: More Suggesions

by fispaul on 04/02/2009 04:31

It's me again. What this game really needs to have is EXPLOSIVES LIKE IN SINGLEPLAYER AVAILABLE ALSO IN MULTIPLAYER.

What wouldn't be necessary but still cool might be monsters or bots available in multiplayer.

And yes, dead bodies to kick woul dbe awesome, but cmon, by the end of each game you would be walking over a fucking graveyard without dirt or millions of dead players.

A very laggy graveyard at that.

The dead bodies would disappear after a bit, of course...

#15: Security

by fispaul on 04/02/2009 07:10

Oh and by the way, for security, instead of "finding edited maps" and thinking your all smart and "I gotcha, you hacker!" the main maps should be secured of saving in the first place. Like in AC. Yes, everything I say is "like in AC", but I like sauerbraten better as a whole. For the little details though, AC is just a little better :)

Except that's extremely trivial to work around because AC only prevents accidental overwriting of default maps. /clearsecuremaps will let you save a default map, and also removing them from securemaps.cfg. Even if those didn't exist, it could be removed from the client's code.

I'm at Revision 852 (updating right now) and the ragdolls just POP out, without fading or something like that.

Maybe they should fade instead of just disappearing brutally?

The devs are a tiny bit busy trying to get the latest release done within the next month, so don't expect much reply... except - please search the forum, some of these things have been suggested and discussed several times before.

Yes, I know they won't be put into the next release anyway, these are just very general suggestions.

The Dead Bodies should be still movable for 30 sec. and then slowly disappear.
