Let's make a CTF mod

Ok, i want cube CTF, and i bet i'm not the only one. It won't take a whole of work to make, but it's just a little bit too much for one man to do, so i'm asking you guys for assistance. The stuff we need to do is:

* red\blue skins for the player model.
* 2 Flag models with 2 skins each. (one on ground, one carried by the player.
* Code for the flag. (pickups, carriers, caps)
* Code for scoring etc.
* all the maps we can get.
* (a simple mirrior funcion in the editor would be nice)
* a few red\blue base textures

I could do most of this myself, but it'd take too damn long. I'd rather not do the code, as that's my weakest point, but the models\textures\skins should be easy enough. And mapping too :)

So, anyone interested in helping out?

Hey!!

1.I can make blue and red skins
2.I have many maps and i am a good mapper
3.And i can make textures with a prgramm.

But the Problem is im am from Germay and my English is not so good :(

ill join , im a skilled mapper
but you know that the biggest reson why i want to do flameshot is because i want to do a ctf , so why dont we work on that (suggestion)

Frank : No. I want cube+ctf, nothing else. I suggest you drop CTF from your mod instead. No reason to compete over the 20 potential players ;)

Shockie: TFC re-make? how?

recommended reading :)

If nobody's taken the code job in a couple of days, i'll start doing that. But it won't be pretty :P

ya , i thout about it , its pretty diferent my mod to cube . But i was thinking , since the CTF code will be done in my game (maby) all we have to do is but it for cube , no ?

I'm working on CTF already (started yesterday, even before I've read your message - LOL!). Haven't got far yet, mainly because Cube source code is a mess (with respect to Aardappel, it is, of course, a high-quality, mess written by a very talented and professional individual =)). But you can already pick up the red (or blue) carrot and run around with it, scaring monsters by pulsing red light.

hah.. too cool. I'll get to work on a the flag models then. Got a map half-done already too.

Are you compiling under win or linux? I'd like to see the executable so far (and stick those carrots into my map) if it's for windows :) Click my name for email.

I'm on Win, but also have FreeBSD, which in turn has GCC cross-compilation system , which should be able to produce Linux (suckz! =)) binaries... now if only I could set it up... =)

I know, but this is CTF. Capture The Flag. Not TFC. All we're adding is flags, and hopefully better team identification. Not different classes and all that shit.

I put together my first CTF map. Cube doesn't have good CTF textures (red and blue) so texturing is at a standstill atm. Can anyone make some nice CTF textures? I can make some of them my own, but I'm sure others can make better ones.

Also the lighting has been killing me. Spent a few hours on lighting alone, restarting and doing it all over again. blending from dark red/blue to light red/blue looks bad, btw. Just all red and blue looks bad too.
I might just have normal lighting and red/blue textures, with a few exceptions, we'll see how things turn out with textures.

Okay, so I made some of my own textures. I'd like to see someone make some more complex and exciting ones, though. These 2 shots show a few CTF texts, a few normal texts, and a few signs (which I will make more, sings are cool :)

Yeah.. i haven't been able to make colored lights look too good either.

I'm gonna make some generic CTF textures tomorrow, which should be usable on any texture set. + team logos and some of that stuff.

hm, i think photo-sourced stuff like that look way out of place in cube. But it could be a cool gimmick-map anyway :)
