A glitch?

by Robin Williams on 02/08/2009 18:09, 8 messages, last message: 02/21/2009 14:21, 1989 views, last view: 05/04/2024 11:40

Ok I am running Sauerbraten on a macintosh, and now I have run into a really nasty glitch. I have found that NONE of the console commands work or respond. For example, when I type /coop metl4. It states Unknown command: coop. I can't edit at all either. Whenever I scroll with the mouse, it states Unknown command: universaldelta. In short, I can't load maps using the console, or edit. I know its not the config file, because that maps the keys to the commands. So what is it?

I hope both of you are aware of http://cube.wikispaces.com/FAQ#toc4
and downloaded the game from sourceforge.net and not used some allegedly pre-packaged distribution!
There's been linux (ubuntu) packages drifting about that totally messed up directories and media ... maybe you fell into a similar trap on your Macs !?!

I have had this "glitch" too. Try going into edit mode and holding Q while scrolling. than try scrolling again. hat worked for me. hope it helps. Using the /coop command has never worked for me either so i cant help you there

Typing /coop or /coopedit does not work on PC either, to enter coopedit mode you must go to the multiplayer menu, vote game map and mode, and select coopedit.

/coop works fine here (on a mac)

try deleting config.cfg

#8: impossible

by MeatROme on 02/21/2009 14:21

what Brian27 says is definitely impossible .. if the menu works the console will too!

The other two postings were sufficiently unclear that I'm confident their posters are also doing something wrong and so assume the console isn't working.

For absolute clarity - please try the following:

- hit the key T (you get the chat console)
- enter the string "/echo [it works!]" (without the quotes)
- hit ENTER - read the message
then
- hit T, enter "/mode 1;map spiralz"

If you check your stdout.txt (windows/macosx), /dev/stdout (linux (read shell output)) and find errors then they will help you fix anything .. .. might be you should find-and-(re)move some old installations' or otherwise broken config.cfg/autoexec.cfg ... did you look in you personal sauerbraten home-directory? [C:\Documents and Settings\... (windows); ~/.sauerbraten (linux) or accessible via the LauncherApp-Menu on MacOS-X.

If all this really doesn't help you will need to post the output of sauerbraten initializing (stdout (see above)) to see if we maybe can see anything wrong ... as always try to give as much (pertinent) background information on your system, the stuff you tried and what you expected as well as detailed description of what the failure you experience is like (exact error messages, concrete example how to reproduce, ...) ... giving us some inkling as to what you've already tried yourself to correct the problem will help us help you!
