Sauer needs some doors.

We all know that it is possible to script doors in singleplayer, but what about multiplayer? Think of how much better maps could be with a simple door placement tool. Maps would have more detail, realism, and strategy. Just an easy to use menu where the player could place doors (in the same way as mapmodels) in edit mode (SP or MP) and then play their maps online.
This feature would make the game more enjoyable for players that want to edit, or players that just like fighting. Even if the maker of the map would have to script the doors manually, this would still be a big step.
If a doors system was really well made, locks could be added to allow for admin rooms in clan bases or custom maps. I have no doubt that if doors were implemented Sauer would become a much better game (don't get me wrong, it's already my favorite) and attract many more players.

Check out Bloodfrontier, it has doors in multiplayer...

Then I would have to make a mod, which, like I said earlier, defeats the point trying to make Sauer a better game.

Not really. Just make a patch and post it.
If it's liked, it might get put into the main Cube 2 code.

Eh, our doors work in multiplayer because they don't rely on scripting, we use the map definable "entity linking" system. So, we kinda had the chance to design it with multiplayer in mind. This unfortunately can be quite difficult with Sauerbraten due to the need to preserve legacy maps.
