Hello all... this thread is for discussing features you would like to see in cube, and in particular those that you find most urgent. If lots of people have the same urgent requests, I may give it priority to be implemented.

What about brackets around one's name when they're dead, like in Cube and ActionCube?
I am kinda annoyed by nothing changing especially in arena modes - where you should be able to see who is alive and who you're fighting against for your tactics!

problem is, this wouldnt be of much use as everyone is constantly dying and spawning.

It really wouldnt be much of a tactical advantage, it would be constantly flickering the results.

Though I can see where ou are coming from.

...Or alternately, maybe im completely wrong and thius is a good idea after all.

I\'ll shut up anyway.

He is speaking of arena-modes, where everyone has to wait for respawn until only one player remains. There it would be a good idea.
And even in capture-modes with the delay of 10 seconds, would be of use there, too. ;)

#2887: editor cube problem

by Jahova on 02/10/2007 07:58

in sauerbraten edit mode when i place a cube a certain size and push the corners and i want to change cube size to add, edit, or remove a part of that cube it messes everything up. the bigger cube looses its pushed corners.

also, (for example) if i make a stack of 8 cubes, each size 4 and try to push a corner with a size 8 it messes everything up.

if you saw this you would know exactly what i'm talking about. its really annoying and i feel it should be at the top of the improvements list. we editors could have much more fun and be a heck of a lot more productive if this gets fixed.

thnx

Well, you shouldn't really edit small cubes with big cubes. But if you have many small cubes next to each other, try doing /remip and then editing - might help I guess.

This is a subdivision issue. It is not possible to take a large grid cube that has been manipulated, and switch it to a smaller grid...it'll mess it up every time unless you're very carefull about what angles you use. If you make a 45 degree angle and reduce the grid 50% to carve into that angle, it WILL divide it correctly, but if you use a 30 degree angle, and reduce it, it'll mess it up.

Bottom line here is, always build intricate areas of geometry with the smallest grid size you can manage, and don't try to reduce something you've already built. This issue has been around as long as we've had sauerbraten, and it will not get fixed. It's simply a limitation of the geometry method sauer uses...theres no way around it. Also, please don't drag this discussion out anymore, as it's been beat on many times, and it will not ever go away. We have to deal with this one.

my 1500 word suggestion was censored.

how about some new game modes?
here are the ones im suggesting, some of which are already used by Cube & Cube 2, ill just list them anyway because i dont know all of them.
Well here are some i suggest.

Singleplayer - The offline maps.

Capture The Flag - 2 or more teams have flags, you must take the enemy's flag and return it to your base.

Death Match - Free for all.

Team Death Match - Teams fight other teams.

CoOp - Play a singleplayer map online with the players vs the monsters.

Multiplayer Career - The singleplayer campaign but on multiplayer.

InstaGib Death Match - Death Match but with one hit kills only.

Monster - Everyone is fighting each other at first, then when the first person to kill someone kills someone, they become a mutant, then other players are all teamed against that one person, then the person who kills the mutant, becomes the mutant.

Last Man Standing - Death Match exept the person who survives and doesnt lose all thier lives (specified number by the host) wins if everyone else has lost all thier lives.

Invasion - Players fight monsters that spawn in waves that get harder and harder.

Editing - Map editing, single & multiplayer.

Ladder - The host chooses Ladder as the game mode, then he chooses a Sub-Game Mode such as Death Match or something of his/her choice, the only difference is that what happens in this game will be tracked, such as kills/deaths, and etc. and posted on CubeEngine.com.

Melee - Players vs players in a free for all but players can choose to be on a team if they wish.

Racing - Players get vehicles and they must go around a track as many tiems as the host set. The first person to reach the finish line on the final lap wins.

by Raymond on 02/12/2007 04:06, refers to #2880

The enemies in the game have been around since the start of Cube 1. I'm not saying you should replace them, I just think there should be a few more, maybe with more complex attacks.
