Hello all... this thread is for discussing features you would like to see in cube, and in particular those that you find most urgent. If lots of people have the same urgent requests, I may give it priority to be implemented.

hehe, and then ill let it loose if you dont get coding =D
back to the subject, i REALY want to be able to have more than one worl model (that sillty tree)
look at al's link (http://www.amazing3d.com/free/free.html) and u see that there are many freebies that can easily be compiled to md2
and i also want to have thing hang from the roof, like chanderleirs and that sorta thing.
and like most people REALY want free floating blocks of a wall mesh.
if i get the models, i will likely make an eposode, or work on a mod

k, software rendering anyone?
the fact remains that one of the best DM games out there is q1 (the best specific game being frogbot DM on ztndm3 :D ), fast, with awesome balanca and physics, with the additional fact that it runs on any machine. don't let graphics get in the way for good gameplay.. rather have awesome gameplay which everyone can use than spend time on gfx?

i think that games of today need the graphics to have any chance of competing in the games market
best games are a matter of opinion

i was wanting to know for my cube loader if the server has any way of querying it, i.e. getting details like ping, players, map, etc
and if not, would you be able to, and
would you be able to tell me how to query it in delphi/java/J++/C++ ??

i have a realy dumb idea that i think would be fun, i rekon it would be great if each player was allowed a certain amount of "ghost time", eg they have a total amount of time (eg 10secs) which they can become a ghost for, not be able to kill in, pick up items in and all that, but they could run, they might use it in 10 1 second bursts, it would be great in sp when all the monsters build up...

Along those lines, I would like for the DMSP countdown to invasion to be configurable. I'd love for the countdown to be able to be set to null, so one is thrown into the action instantly. Once the map is full & you are in an intense battle, it would be good to keep the pace going, a la Dm respawn. As it is now, you simply restart the map w/ a new countdown. I'd like for the countdown to not exist, so if I am fragged & restart, it is as if I respawned in the middle of a match.

DMSP is supposed to give you an SP experience in a DM map... respawning is not part of that. Your opponents are monsters, not bots. The countdown is needed to collect items... many maps would overwhelm you without it.

It would be cool if you could rotate whatever you've copied into the clipboard, and then when you paste, you paste the rotated version.

i have been saying this for months but i will not be put off!!
me wants you to make it so i can do what i can do to the roof and floors to the walls. i think it would be cool if we could be able to make a straight up post, and then make things stick out from it, so i can make a lamp, and a desk, and other things, and i have started to do mapping now =Þ
umm i wanted to ask something else, what was it...
hmm this is not it, but can we also have a) terrain damage (eg heat fields) b) O2 levels (ie drowning) and c) fall damage
and i like the way we jump, and accelerate, i was playing about with gaps, and you can walk accross a 3-4 cube gap, which will be helpfull in the map im making, as it will make a camping spot you cant get out of, and a spot for snipers to shoot pplz if they r so dumb and jump =D

for "heightfield editing in any direction, without restriction", you have to wait for the "cube next gen" engine, which I am designing :)
a) maybe lava one day
b) and c) nope.. these features suck in other games, they wont be in cube. they have no gameplay value other than "realism"...

I already made a lava texture but you right, the water don't behave like lava.
What about crack walls that be blown up to small little pieces ?

it would be cool, if you could rename all the directories and files with more senseful names than "martin" ;-)..
um, serious - if you want to show the producer of it, just add a text file... but I think that it would become quite overviewable if you rename the filestructure....

yes, good idea, we will also rename the "data" and "packages" directories to something more memorable, like "sandy" or "jenny". ("jenny" is more fat then sandy, thats why she holds all the packages, while "sandy" has "martin" in her)
,as a subdirectory, of course.
