Hello all... this thread is for discussing features you would like to see in cube, and in particular those that you find most urgent. If lots of people have the same urgent requests, I may give it priority to be implemented.

"like most cubeengine guys" << no doubt that comment will come back and bite you.
Learn how to use commas and fullstops, you might find a dictionary usefull too.
Is actually clicking on the link before posting too sensible for you? Take nothing for granted.

Okay, we've pretty much settled on the level of discourse here.
It is so unfortunate that this:

only operates one-way.

I would respect it if he's a European of age 15 or younger. The only place where I speak English myself is on the net, for the rest it's all Dutch and German, so I also practically had to start with no vocabulary and grammatical insight at all, much like most children here that use the net.

#1549: weapon drop, accelleration |

two major features missing for gameplay:
1) weapon drop(or ammo considerng there is no weapon) when killed in deathmatch, or playstiles that requires ammo
2)accellerated moves:
here when you start move/jump/falling the moves are always at the same rate, but it make the game a little robotic, it would be better a minimum acceleration time, under a sec, for moving jumping ecc.
minor request
footsteps sound, ctf mod

1) Unnecessary, because the weapons already respawns *very* quickly
2) There is already acceleration. There is a limit on the max falling speed though (like in reality too).
footsteps sound: there was in Raiden (an old Cube mod), i don't think this adds a lot.
CTF: there is a CTF in Quad

Waterstep sounds:When you step on the top of the water you make stepping on water sound effect and it is good for enemys too and they can hear you too that would be cool.

I consider the lack of footsteps a good thing, you will need to know the map (or your foe) well to predict where your opponent goes, at least this applies for 1on1s.
To increase the friction would take away what cube is all about: fast paced action :)

I think there may be something to the idea of water sounds - that you make loud splashing noises when running in or swimming on the surface of water. In effect, it would let the mappers choose more about the gameplay - if they want slower play and noisy players, put them hip-deep in water. This is especially good on the newer maps that use water as a "hazard" - that is, the map is all catwalks over a pool.

hey all
i've noticed many of the features mentioned here are denied because CUBE is a "fast-paced" game that would be messed up if the advanced features in this thread were implemented, but remember that cube is not just a game-- is an engine, too. of course sauer is being worked on, but i think instead of just denying many of these cool features, the ENGINE should at least eventually SUPPORT them, so that other games made with the cube engine can take advantage of such features. there could be an option to turn off features that dont "agree" with cube. just my 2 cents :)

Cube is an engine for C++ coders to hack if they want to add features. As a game, I don't think its going anywhere - ppl might add new simple features to Cube just focussed on Cube - the game - but anyone who wants anything more substantial is gonna have to code them themselves.
Sauer, on the other hand, I imagine will be more versatile.
