Hello all... this thread is for discussing features you would like to see in cube, and in particular those that you find most urgent. If lots of people have the same urgent requests, I may give it priority to be implemented.

Score could be just time to complete the map for SP.

I guess this would mean just to have a personal high score table in the game and then having the ability to upload your score to the site.

just as a side comment, I was thinking it might be more realistic it the chaingun was less accurate. the way it is now, it's so accurate you gan use it as a sniper weapon. a less accurate chaingun would be more interesting to play with imho.

Well, I don't care about realism, and I'd like the Chaingun to be less accurate myself, for the same reason. Also for it to have a slightly lower R.O.F. The thing is just obscenely powerful, and it makes the sniper rifle basically "what to do when your chaingun runs out of ammo in a long-ranged fight".

imho with the new recoil, the rifleīs become a good alternative in long-range fights.

Well, I just don't agree with the premise that all guns should be equally powerful. qw's brilliant gameplay partially comes from the huge imbalance, and q3's blandness comes from its balance.
Yes the chaingun is on average the most powerful weapon in cube, but not universally so. I often see people charge me with the chaingun, and one well aimed shotgun shot takes them out before they kill me. Or similarly where corners are involved I can stop them with the RL. If anything, the rifle is the only underpowered gun, but it that is more due to the skill needed to use it if anything.
I would say that maps should be designed to be sparse on chaingun ammo.. for example metl3 has one place where all the chaingun ammo is, in some games this area is even more contested than the YA or quad.

Q3's blandness comes not from the overbalance of the weapons, but from the fact that they're all the same friggin' gun with new graphical effects.
UT has very well balanced weapons and they're functionally the same. IMHO, the best approach is to have a full weaponspread of roughly balanced weaponry, and then have some "off balanced" weapons (like the BFG from Q3, the best idea in the game) just to spice it up.
The time "no balance, don't bother" worked best was in Q2, because there was a nice, complex heirarchy of weapons. You had at the bottom things like the single shotgun, the assault rifle, and the handgrenades, and then you had the big weapons that ran on bottom-level weapon ammo (SSG, Chaingun, Grenade Launcher) and then you had the heavy weapons that had unique ammo (RL, HyperBlaster, Railgun) and then you had the BFG.
And mappers worked with this - there was bottom-level gear everywhere, second-tier weapons were sparse but easy to get to, heavy weapons were tucked away in out-of-the-way places, and the BFG was a challenge to get your hands on.
In Cube, the chaingun seems to be treated as just another part of the weaponspread even though it stands out.
I don't mean to preach - actually, my problem is this - chainguns are always my favourite weapons in games, and I don't like how cube doesn't have a "normal" chaingun that is used plentifully but fits in the weaponspread - only a "super" chaingun that is rare and depletes quickly.

a feature I would like to see is making Coop-edit only votable on passworded servers. In my opinion, not a single good piece of mapping has ever been done on a public server. I think those who really want to go for it will password their server anyways. This way it would be kept off the pubs, where itīs only annoying.

"I would say that maps should be designed to be sparse on chaingun ammo"
Exactly, it seems the idea is that if you want to go around with chaingun blazing, it ain't gonna last long. But lots of maps aren't like that.
The way the chaingun makes it hard to function when you're hit by it is maybe too much though. Still, much like the lightning gun it most closely emulates.
As to multiple weapons that use the same ammo, that seems an inspiration for having so few weapons more than anything else.

Hello, Nice game you people have there.. Kind of reminds me of the old quake 2 type game..
Yes, I did play many different commercial first person shooter games in the past.
A small noob suggest I need for the game, as for the monsters and people, do they actually have a death animation sequance when they die instead of replacing the images with guts when they die to non explosive weapons like the machine gun, shot gun?
Though in most first person shooter games, when they over-kill a target with an explosive or a powerful energy type gun, they are supposed to blow up with guts or so.. If theres enough health to barley kill a person, then he will have a death animation sequence..
Also, the model could have different types of way of blowing up instead of redish blood and guts. UT2k* had that feature.. Would it be possible to make robot like player/monsters blow up with metal debris with sparks instead of red blood and guts.. Or even an alien to blow up with different guts with blue blood etc.
Anyways, I like the game. I havent looked through all the game yet but I wonder if there will be a bot match with other computer players in the future.

It'd be nice if the game did "Gib Corpses" from a direct rocket launch or any quad shot (Because the Quad increases the amount of blood so much), but did a DA on anything else.

Also, I played the multiplayer version of this game, it was a blast.
Though the weapon that needed a tweaking was the chain gun(the bullets in the green background). You fire the machine gun and the shots hit the crossair in the center all the time.. I was suggesting for the machine gun is for the shots to get spread out a little bit more like in Quake 3, the further you go against your target, the lesser you damage the person. Most of the machine guns in first person shooters are supposed to be for close range only.
Also, the rocket gun needs some kind of a rocket model to go along with the shots coming out of the rocket gun instead of smoke particles.
Last but not least, the goblin or player like models need some kind of an animation sequence where they are holding a weapon.
I understand that this game is still in its alpha stages, but has any of these been planned in the future?

No cube isnt in its alpha stages :D
Shocking:
Things like rocketmodel / weapon holding enemies would be great. But cube is _fun_ as it is...

Bah, cube isn't in any alpha stage. The code is actually very mature and stable.
Rocketmodels and vweap support (for monsters and online players) would be VERY NICE.
