Why can't I search for servers in Sauerbraten / AssaultCube

Hey.

Since I've been on Vista, I've never installed Cube. Toady I did, and it tells me the master server isn't responding, every time.

I've turned off Windows Firewall, and I've opened the ports through my router it tells me to open in the Wiki, and still nothing.


So why can't I access the master server in Sauerbraten or AssaultCube, but for all other games (Quake, UT3), I can?


Whats wrong?
Any help appreciated - Can't wait to play again.

your on vista do you really need to ask :P

but anyway I suspect you did not open all the ports and you still have some kind of firewall running

Its a server lister for Sauerbraten, Cube 1, Blood Frontier and AssaultCube. You can connect with it to a server

Oh no, it's not gonna let me have it that easily! lol

In the settings I point it to the correct location where my Sauerbraten.bat, and the game DIR is.

Double-click a server
*Ding!* Error box number 1 pops up
Click ok.
*Ding!* Error box number 2 pops up.

Oh, and I instantly thanked you because I remember using CSL on my other PC around a year ago, so I've used it before without problems.

Oh, and Homicidal: I opened udp 28785 and udp 28786, the ports it tells me in the Wiki. And no, I don't use a firewall. Windows firewall is disabled, and the only other possible thing blocking it is my Router NAT, which (I think) I opened the correct ports for.

I shouldn't even have to open ports unless I'm hosting a server though. Atleast I haven't ever had to for any other game.

Adam2091, at first remove the path from the game parameter text field, since this doesn't make sense. If it doesn't work then, rename the folder which contains sauerbraten by removing the "()".

about ports, yes you're right you shouldn't have to open up those UDP ports if you're not hosting a sever. If I remember correctly sauerbraten query's the master server the same way you go to a website.

http://www.sauerbraten.org/masterserver/retrieve.do?item=list

is what sauerbraten loads to get the servers. You should be able to go to that URL, if you can't then that's the problem...

Yeah I can go to that URL.
I just pasted all the IP\'s into my server.cfg, so thats what I\'ll have to do. :P ty

Yup. I can get in and play by using that URL to add servers :)

It\'s great, CTF is really fun, the maps are detailed and all different. Really fun.

Nice community too, fun players to talk to.
