Totally New Sauerbraten Website!!

Hello, I have just begun work on my new Sauerbraten community website. It is nowhere near being finished, but I have released what I have made so far. Unlike my original website which was free to run and was a .googleppages.com site, this website is a .com and is not free to run. Of course, creating an account on the site will be free. Right now there are no adds, however that could change, but probably not. Here is the url:

Like I said before, this is nowhere near being finished, so go easy on it. Also, since I have to pay to keep it running, please spend at least a little time looking at it. Put feedback for it in this thread.

Yeah, SVG has some buggy support. Damn IE gives me all kinds of headaches in that regard. Also, while we're on it, PNG is better than GIF, except for one hiccup: the alpha support is kinda lacking. IE 6 and down doesn't properly display transparency without a weird workaround in your css. Instead it shows a neutral gray, which is almost guaranteed to look terrible.

At last for me the text in the real SVG is wrong.

As I tried some HTML I was surprised that browsers did not support vector graphics. And that was around 1999. -_-

It is odd that SVG support is so weak. I've taken a good look at how the tech actually works (thought about trying to write a plugin for sauer once), and it's not bad stuff.

I think the general opinion among browser devs is that making image support at all was a bad idea. :)

I am redoing my Sauer website to make it much better. It will have all of my levels, including the first four!! (TheTown, TheTemple, TheComplex, TheArena.) Right now it barely has any pages and content, but I am working on it a lot. Remember I am redoing the old Sauerbratenonline.com not my googlepages website; I will unpublish that when I am finished with Sauerbratenonline. Here it is and enjoy:

It sorta disturbs me that you say "Sauerbraten's new online community". I personally think Sauer's community is staying right here. Also, quadropolis is the website that people use to "download and upload Sauerbraten levels".

Heh, I'd like to see your preview of my SVG. :P

For those that don't know, SVGs ARE just XML... Copy that into a plain text file and save it as (e.g.) cube.svg and it'll magically be an image.

That was traced from the cube PNG that comes with Sauer. Depending on what you view it with, the shadow might not display correctly (but it comes out fine here).
