1FPS on GeForce3 with default settings?

by EXP on 02/11/2002 09:20, 12 messages, last message: 03/09/2002 12:25, 1564 views, last view: 04/21/2024 07:36

Hiho

Just downloaded cube and gave it a try.
HELL! I have about 1-8fps! Even if I set all the tweaking options to the lowest settings!
I am using Win XP, might that be a problem?

Hardware:
Athlon 700MHz
GeForce 3
512MB RAM

Is this game THAT ressource hungry? I can't believe it.

thats why i use something like 7.12 DETs! :)
cube runs hella nice at max settings max detail @ 1024x768 on my p3 500 gf2mx 128mb ram. :)

#2: driver

well,

I am using the 23.11 nvidia drivers (those are the latest official ones I think).
And I have no problems in other games like Q3, HL or MoHAA.

I had 1-8 fps at first with a Radeon and WinXP. But it was my drivers (wasn't trying to run under OpenGL). I downloaded the latest driver for my card and tried it again. Got consistently 80-110fps then. :)

I have a 64meg GF2 with the most recent drivers and only get 1-8 FPS too with WinXP pro.

You could get the software renderer if you have 16-bit colour on your desktop and the engine for example requests a stencilbuffer.

Stencil is only supported in 32-bit colour mode on nvidia cards.

Hi all,

i had the same problem, its all about quitting cube, setting windows to 16 bit color, 800x600 res and restart cube. Works damn fine, I get around 40 FPS. It plays cool.

#9: Same problem

by thepunisher20 on 02/13/2002 20:17

hello, there,

I have a MSI mobo with a Trident graphics adapter on-board. I'm running a AMD @1000 MHz, 8Mb graphics, and 512 SDRAM memory @ win '98 SE. Drivers are fine. Unreal Tournament works fine under OPENGL. But Cube is running at 8 FPS, much too low I guess. Does anyone has a solution ?

I have Athlon 800 with 384MB Ram and GF256DDR

I have constant 85 fps (limited because of vsync I guess)

#11: new drivers

by pushplay on 02/27/2002 23:57

It seems that the next release of nvidia drivers has been leaked, in an incomplete form no doubt. But if you're getting crappy refresh rates on your card, you might wish to give this a try.

Keep in mind that this may f_ck you up and make it necessary to go into safe mode and get the old drivers back. Keep an installer for the old version on hand just in case.
