I made some changes to Sauerbraten using Visual C++ and recompiled it (followed the instructions on the wiki article). It runs fine, but refuses to go into fullscreen mode saying my platform does not support it (i am on Windows Vista). But at the same time, the standard, unedited build of sauerbraten runs in full screen mode perfectly. *NOTE: I couldn't have screwed anything up because I made a new build of Sauerbraten before editing any of the code and it didnt even allow fullscreen then.
any help is appreciated.

No, he didn't. I'm guessing it's a missing dependency or something similar (something Vista related. What a surprise.)

Yeah, MovingTarget was right, it is vista related. I have WTL and ATL and all the different libraries and run times installed, but something must be different in Vista or the way I have it set up or something, because I brought all my edited code to my friend's house and built it on his XP machine and fullscreen ran like a charm. So I guess I have to be extremely careful when I make changes to code so that I dont write errors or memory leaks or whatnot.. not that that happens anyway ;) and then just build it at my friends house. Thank you, Vista!
Thanks for everyone's help :) Its great to see a friendly community in Sauerbraten world

When you start the game, what does the "Renderer: " line say in the console?

... I came across the same problem today. The only difference is: I am running XP.
So it\\\\\\\'s obviously not a VISTA problem. I just recompiled the original sources with Visual C++ 2008, and can\\\\\\\'t enter fullscreen mode. The original SAUERBRATEN.EXE does not have any problem with fullscreen on my machine.
Any clues?

#4: Perhaps Visual C++? |

I use mingw (gcc) under XP SP2. I have no problems like this.

That's strange, because in the source code there are several lines like:
#if defined(WIN32) || defined(__APPLE__)
conoutf("\"fullscreen\" variable not supported on this platform. Use the -t command-line option.");
extern int fullscreen;
fullscreen = !enable;
This looks as if for Windows systems the "fullscreen" feature is disabled (regardless of the compiler). But I'll try. Thanks for the hint.

#6: It works! |

Yep - you were right. MS VC++ is the problem. After recompiling with MingW (the new version, found at http://www.develer.com/oss/GccWinBinaries) fullscreen works great (under XP SP3).
(The MingW version shipped with Code::Blocks has issues with the mouse in menus.)
Thanks!

Don't post the same question in multiple threads. I've already answered your post in the "compiling" thread.
