I just installed Sauerbraten today. When I tried running it, the start menu short cut didn't work. I've tried running the .exe in the /bin folder, and as another thread suggests, I tried running it in the main Sauerbraten folder, but it still doesn't work. When I try to run it, it says that it 'hasn't been configured correctly'. I've tried reinstalling it as well.

It still doesn't work. The command prompt tells me that "The system cannot execute the specified program."

I have had the runtime installed, and attempted to install it anyway when you suggested that that was what I needed. I also installed the patch. Anyway, specs:
System: Windows XP
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+ 2.19 GHz.
RAM: 3.00 GB
GPU: ATI Radeon X1300
That's enough, right? Unless you need anything else.

mm strange very strange
the error its throwing out is telling me that it can't fine the proper MS c++ runtime dlls on your system
than I am sure of I would uninstall the runtime reboot then reinstall it
other then that I am not sure what the issue is any problems with other programs

Would that perchance be Windows XP x64?
My friend who has x64 edition has the exact same issue.

Well of course installing an x86 runtime dll won't work on a x64 system. You need http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=EB4EBE2D-33C0-4A47-9DD4-B9A6D7BD44DA&displaylang=en .
(I think)

What OS do you have, exactly? Right-click on My Computer, choose Properties. What is the text under "System:" on the first tab?

Yes, I did. There are several varieties of Windows XP and that is what I was trying to find out.
