I need a little help downloading Cube2?

Hello,

I have a problem and hope someone could help me?

The problem is that like anyone would do is download Cube2 and install it, but that is another thing, after I installed Cube 2 I went searching around the folders to find the EXE. After that I went and loaded it up, but It appears with a Error, and it seems that the EXE can not find the "Core textures".

I also downloaded the Assasin edition.
Do I have to download somthing else to get these "Core textures"?

i tried to use google to find out how to install Cube 2 and how to run it and all this stuff on changeing whats in the programs and stuff and going on about how it runs better on linex or something and my pc is like allmost like top of the line for games my pc has:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.02GHz,2.00GB of RAM

plz i just want to play cube2 why is cube2 so harder to install than cube1???
i had no problem downloading,installing and running cube1 plz i really need help.

Okay, here is the correct installation/run procedure:

Download Assassin Edition and the patch for Windows (because you're running XP).

Install Assassin Edition with the default installation, then install the patch, also with the default settings.

Then go into your Start Menu. All Programs -> Sauerbraten -> Sauerbraten

It should run. If it doesn't, let us know what errors you're getting.

ok im downloading the sauerbraten_2007_12_24_assassin_edition_
win32_setup.exe

my internet is kinda slow but its downloading at 53.1 kb/sec so its gonna be like 1 hour then ill download the patch should olny be like a min cause its small ill tell ya what happens when im done

um it just sead it finished downloading at olny 44% now theres like half of the install THATS IT IM NOT WASTEING ENY MORE TIME OF THIS PEACE OF S*** GAME F*** DIS IM BUYING GEARS OF WAR AND PLAYING THAT ONLINE INSTED!!!! I QUOTE: FIND SOMETHING BETER THEN THIS PEACE OF S*** GAME!!!!

i no lol jokes it just WAYYYY to long to download and install and get it working and all so u end up spending all that time downloading and installing when IT JUST DOSNT WORK!!!!!! it just pisses me off so much! i spent from 10:00 till 1:00 just to find out i have to do all this crap all over AGAIN!!!! so im just gonna install Americas Army and play insted u noobs!

Sauerbraten is pretty much an average download size (Nexuiz is about the same, Alien Arena is around 167MB, Warsow is however under 100MB, World of Padman weighs in at 550, Urban Terror is 700 (!!), and OpenArena is around 200), so I don't see the problem with download size. 'Course, America's Army is a whopping 2.5 gig (as Demosthenes pointed out), which is the largest download of them all (I think F.E.A.R. Combat is around one gigabyte).

Plus, in my opinion, America's Army gameplay is kinda (read: astoundingly) slow. Like the load time.

And then you've got almost any MMO to consider... with the exception of ones like Runescape, which don't really count, I don't think I've ever seen a free-to-play MMO less than 700 megs. Maybe I haven't scouted around long enough, but most are pretty dang hefty. And then any subscription MMO is probably going to be even more than that (WoW is what, at least 4 gigs now? I can't keep up, it's been a long time).

PlaneShift - 251MB
Rappelz - 1.7G
Shadow of Legend - 1.8G

Of course, there are countless others, but I don't have time to look at all the download sizes. But I (and the rest of us) see your point.

no found the sound of the err I knew it was missing the runtime for MS visual c++ as in msvcr71.dll msvcr80.dll ect ect
these files should be installed when you run the installer to prevent this from happening

I've downloaded SB many times and installed it on more computers than I can count. I've never had an issue.

1. If it takes you 3 hours to download you must be on dial-up. I hope you did not miss any phone calls while downloading :)

2. Point number (1) is the problem.

3. It works just fine.

4. You just go play AA. Maybe the Army will give you a call.

5. I'll show you who's a noob, meet you for a DM.....Oh wait you can't install it ... lol

Woah, mate its a opensource FPS!!!
Not game, and you need to calm down a little bit, do you have a 56k dial up connection?Because I can tell why, although i dont have one...(YAY!)

And I never knew people are mad about AA nowadays, Might try it out.
