I was playing Tremulous a few nights ago and I thought,'wow, wouldn't it be neat if there was a way to use this shapechanging business in an RPG...'
So anyways, what if one set of abilities available in the game included 'Morphs', which would momentarily change the shape/size/basic abilities of your character.
They would be hidden around in various hard-to-find locations of the map, and would be activated items... probably.
Just some ideas off the top of my head include
Rat: small and fast, ignored by most medium-large enemies.
(larger than normal) Spider: can climb on walls [like in tremulous], also ignored by some enemies.
wolf: fast, moderate melee attack...
...and perhaps some freaky monster like things that make things explode or whatever.
For the sake of not killing yourselves and having to rewrite the physics engine, lets leave things that fly out of this... Though hovering might be okay.
Tell me what you think!

I also remember another FPS [team fortress perhaps] that had a grenade item that disoriented your character. It would force your movement/camera in certain random directions to make you have difficulty in aiming and moving around.
perhaps a similar effect can be implemented for certain sp[ells/abilities
Ex: alcohol/drug items would do this (if they're in the game)
or more appropriately, a 'Rage' item or ability, that would make you dizzy and increase your strength at the same time.

Concussion Grenade, also known as the Conc in Team Fortress Classic. Not that the name matters that much...
