Don't care for the pistol model, it just seems to busy to me. The new gamemode and maps are awesome! so is slowmotion DMSP! great stuff right here.

Might as well list a few things I don't like as well...

- The chaingun model doesn't appear to do anything aside from vibrate.
- Your feet seem a little "sticky", i.e. you can run down steep slopes unrealistically. Try running off some ledges in maps like island (which, incidentally, doesn't crash for me).

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure I'll come up with more... ;)

It is easy to get the Mac version.

Download Linux sauerbraten, then download Libsdl, sdl_image, sdl_mixer.

Drop those into library/frameworks.

I then compiled with Xcode

#9: unknown command: hwmipmap

by steve_e on 12/23/2007 04:14

after
init: cfg

I then get:
unknown command: hwmipmap

when Sauer loads the default map met14.ogz

I have no idea what this actually means or does, so I don't kno whether it is a problem with that maps .cfg, or Sauer's .cfg, or it is a problem with my graphics hardware (Geforce 8800 GTS)

steve_e, make sure to uninstall your old sauerbraten before installing the new version, that is what I suspect here...

Right - didn't do that - thought about it, but, umm , was too lazy. I will give it a go... cheers.

Uninstall and fresh new install did the trick - I still get the 'Could not set gamma' alert, though I had this in the previous version, but strangely disappeared when I installed this new assassin version ontop of the summer edition.

Anywho, it is looking good - I am going to enjoy playing with the barrels and boxes! I would love to be able to trigger a barrel to explode - I am assuming you can only make one explode by shooting it, though setting the H value to 1 will make it explode with a single hit.

#14: platform command

by steve_e on 12/23/2007 06:34

"T is a tag that may be used to start or stop the elevator with the "platform" command; if a non-zero tag is specified, then the platform or elevator will stop upon hitting an obstacle, rather than reversing direction."

I have been trying figure out how this works without success - can not find any example code... is it possible to trigger the platform as the docs suggest? If so, how is the platfrom command called in cubescript?

#16: Win32 Exception error

Twice now when doing a quicklight Sauer has crashed out:

The above seems to happen when calculating lighting in maps using the lava material as far as I can tell. Created a new map with water - rendered fine and no crashing, Same map but with lava instead of water and it crashed out doing the lightcalc.

Here is a link to a current file that demonstrates the problem (at least on my PC):

http://tigerleo.com/igd/cube2/adrift.ogz

The other file that I am having the same sort of problems with has too many resource files attached to it to package up quickly at the moment. It shares similar attributes as the one I have linked to here whereby there are large expanses of lava on heightmapped regions...

This is what I got from this 'adrift.ogz' file:

C:\Program Files\Sauerbraten>bin\sauerbraten.exe -r
init: sdl
init: enet
init: video: mode
init: video: misc

Here is a link to a map that rendered fine under the Summer release - no problems and I don't think Sauer had ever crashed on me using that version:
http://tigerleo.com/igd/cube2/lava_crash.zip

Latest exception error report for that map under the assassin release:

read map packages\base\foggy2.ogz (1.4 seconds)
Untitled Map by Unknown
game mode is SP
