I was just wondering, wouldn't it be cool if some people made some maps similar to those from Halo 2 and Halo 3? For example, I think a level like Valhalla from Halo 3 would be really cool. Also a map like Lockout from Halo 2 would be sweet. There's a whole bunch of Halo maps that would make great Sauer maps.
I'd try to do it, but I would fail miserably. I suck at mapping stuff...

It just cost to much for most people. It was great though and advanced for the time.

Randomly walked in to this thread, and coming from the Halo community I'd like to throw a couple ideas out there.
1. Don't remake anything from Halo 2 or Halo 3. ANYTHING. They're all garbage.
2. Halo 1, however, had some amazingly awesome maps, some of the best ever made for FPS's. Prisoner, Hang 'em High, Damnation and Chill Out were brilliantly laid out and their weapon and power-up placement were fantastic. If you're going to model a map after something from the halo-verse, use those maps. THEY were amazing.

im working on damnation but sadly i think im the only person in the world who has not stolen a copy of halo CE for Pc. Plus i need the mac version which isnt even being sold anymore by the publisher.
I personally blame bungie for the great betrayal of 2000, maybe now they are free of microsoft they will at least take the mac into consideration when making a game.
So now all i have is some screenshots, a map layout, and a youtube video.

do you need some damnation screenshots? Possible a full walkthrough? I have Halo CE/PE (legal) and the right tools to record from it.

Have you ever tried to write software for the mac???? Its REALLY hard and performs like... terribly! Yes, even if that mac just happens to have a Core 2 Quad under the hood!!!!
P.S.
According to McAfee Antivirus, unprotected macs are 47% more likley to get viruses than an protected pc!
6+7=Qbert!

Reeeeeaaallly?
47% more likely to capture... a virus? When still not a single one exists for OS X?
And the first statement: Yes I have. No it's not. No, it does not.
OMG, did I just feed the troll? D'oh!

Well, there may be one or two virii for Mac, one of them is discussed here: http://www.macrumors.com/2006/02/16/the-first-mac-os-x-virus-a-new-os-x-trojan/
Of course, that may just be rumor, so if it is, don't listen to me! :-)

Oh dear, Halo hate here?
I'm a Halo fan, and I really think a lot of the negativity directed towards the series is unjustified.
Here is a forum full of many gamers who no doubt hold the Doom, Quake and Unreal Tournament series in high regard. For said games to then suggest that Halo 3 is just a prettier Halo 2 is ridiculous! What gameplay innovations have come from any of the recent Doom or Quake games? Quake Wars was a huge disappointment, with just a bland mix of Quake gameplay with some aspects of the Battlefield series. Unreal Tournament 3 is a rehashed UT2k4 in UE3 with the Gears of War artstyle.
To go as far as suggesting even the original Halo was overrated is even more absurd. It's easy to say that the series is only so highly rated and regularly played due to the huge media hype, but this is something the first Halo game didn't get. It created a huge following because the game was actually good, but because it's a series iconic of the 'evil' Microsoft's Xbox, it must be bad, right? Even worse for the Mac fans here.. it was originally going to be a Mac game! Bungie, famous Mac developers, stolen by none other than Microsoft!
In regards to the storyline, Halo has a simple (at least on the surface, there is so much back story there) yet compelling narrative.
Since the first Halo, I would agree that the multiplayer gameplay has lost much of what made it so great. In Halo 3, it essentially boils down to who sees who first in many cases, and the maps in Halo 3 are pure awful, just big sandboxes with some items thrown in to make it mildly interesting. But to say the entire series is overrated as a whole is just stupid.

Or maybe it's just because Halo maps don't work with Sauer?
Really, personally I don't hate Halo. I'd love to play it if it came out for Mac (an ever-so-slight possibility now), but Microsoft /is/ evil, and I can't forgive them for stealing Halo.

You only argue that Halo 3 is _not_ only a graphical upgrade to Halo 2 by telling us that Quake, Doom and UT do no better. That's hardly a good argument. ;-)
And then, of course there was a huge media hype around Halo 1! Halo was almost finished (for the Mac!) _two_ years it came out for the XboX. Everybody knew that, everybody learnt to hate MS for that move. Halo 1 could have been revolutionary, but by the time it finally came out it was just average.
Halo is overrated IMHO.

Halo3 is a fun game indeed.... but i dont see what makes it so special. what is in halo that has not been done before? Besides the fun value going up a bit, i dont see what makes halo3 better than halo2. I'll stick with halo(1)....

Have you ever looked at the developer tools from osx? They are very simple and well thought-out, yet at the same time they can preform tasks that are incredibly complex.
And because of all the optimizations, core tools, and other features of osx (such as how it addresses memory), native applications on macs will run faster. Just think about it, apple only has to create an os for a certain number of computer configurations unlike Microsoft who has to make an os for every possible configuration. Combine that with a stronger core structure and better tools for addressing certain tasks. Your probably just a shitty coder or something.
From the demo, i think it was the shaders in halo for mac that got messed up.
