Cube Server Lister 0.7.5

by }TC{WahnFred on 11/08/2007 23:44, 15 messages, last message: 11/27/2007 15:26, 1888 views, last view: 04/19/2024 16:00

Cube Server Lister is an opensource multiplatform server monitor for Cubeengine based game servers, like Cube, AssaultCube, Sauerbraten and Blood Frontier. Currently it provides the basic functionality like update from masterserver, listing servers, and join servers directly. Special features are:

- extended information for sauerbraten and assaultcube servers like players, frags, deaths, teamkills... (requires server patch which is available at the download site)
- manually add servers
- connect to server or wait for a free slot
- filter servers
- search / highlight strings in master list
- log, load and save game output and filter chats
- support for multiple masters

Whats new in 0.7.5

- Extended info version 102 is now supported which means CSL now shows captured bases in the sauerbraten capture modes (capture and instagib capture). Furthermore a country flag indicates the nationality of players.
- New "private config file mode" which should be interesting especially for OS X users. If enabled, CSL starts sauerbraten with the config files created by the launcher. On other platforms, the config files are saved in the CSL-configdir/gamecfg
- A fancy new application icon and a reworked about dialog.
- A map config tool, which generates the required config files for the map preview.

What was fixed in 0.7.5

- PPC part of the OS X build (used wrong compiler version)

You can download CSL 0.7.5 and extended info patches from http://cubelister.sf.net

"Deleted stale lock file Users/*****/.csl-*****.lock"

Where ***** is the computer name. Then it shuts down.

Works fine here (Kubuntu Gutsy) after installing a WxWidgets dev package (compiled from source).

Could only see two servers, and I couldn't figure out why... Then realized I had to update from the master servers.
How about doing an auto-update when starting up?

Oh, and what do I have to do to get the connection function working? At present, it loads up, says "unknown command: csl_connect", loads the map packages/base/csl_start_sb.ogz, says "unknown alias lookup: csl_connect", and does nothing else.

@JadeMatrix: You're using a PPC Mac?

@SheeEttin: Use the real binary (bin_unix/linux_client) as game executable, not the shell script.
I suggest "-r -q/home/yourusername/.sauerbraten" as game parameters.

Indeed. I see this becoming a problem... should have just compiled myself...

Hi JadeMatrix,

I replaced the OS X version of CSL on the Sourceforge download site. It was now successfully tested on a 10.3 Powermac. Please download and try it again.

WahnFred: 0.7.5 gives me an error (could not init, please restart CSL) on my OS X 10.5. I then get the main window, but cannot refresh from masterserver, so the list stays empty. Any ideas?

Hi SanHolo,

i already answered your post in the HyperFrag Forum. :)

This Messagebox appears, if the internal engine could not be initialised - in this case, the UDP socket for sending pings could not be created. Maybe is has something to do with the new firewall in 10.5?

I've no Leopard for testing yet :(

#10: Menus

by JadeMatrix on 11/22/2007 17:29

Works great now!

However, the 'File' menu is empty, as is the 'Help' menu. There's also an empty ' ' (blank) menu.

Hi JadeMatrix,

nice to hear, that it works now for you! :)

The menu problem is already known. Somehow the underlying wxWidgets library has some problems with OS X menus. If i remove the "File" menu, "Preferences" doesn't work anymore, since on other platform it's located in the "File" menu - same for "About" and the hidden "Help" menu. The "Help" menu which is shown, gets created automatically. It's really annoying so far...

There's a tool that comes with OSX for making those menus. But you'd need someone who can understand how to implement the menu-file into the Mac package, and then compile it. That wouldn't be me XD.

Ah, yeah; I realized that I should have postet to the TC boards instead of the HF, so I didn't check back. ;-)

I get the same error-message after allowing csl to accept connections, after switching the Firewall off and after telling Little Snitch that csl is allowed to reach the internet.

I hope you receive a Leopard soon. =)

Keep it up!

SanHolo, I replaced the OS X version of CSL on the Sourceforge download site on more time and it should work now on Leopard. Please try it and give me some feedback.

Thanks,
WahnFred

WahnFred, thanks, this one works on 10.5.1! Great!

Only thing is - when I doubleclick a server, it launches the sauerbraten binary instead of the OS X launcher. Is there a way to circumvent this? If not I'll add resolution parameters and the like in the CSL prefs. =)
