Creating clean archives with mac

by zheddo on 11/07/2007 10:14, 8 messages, last message: 11/08/2007 19:14, 980 views, last view: 04/01/2024 15:08

When creating .zip files with mac you usually have these annoying .CS_Store files added automatically.

On the following link there is a program wich allows you to create "clean" archives which create your archive without any of the hidden unnessesary files!

enjoy!

Sorry, just thought, since theres plenty of mac users and most archives contain .DS files etc theres a lot of other OS users complaining bout it, Id post some software to make clean archives with...

It is meant to ease uploading for quadropolis, no spam was intended, I just wantet to help support mac users :/

@ SanHolo: Yeah I kinda saw that right after I posted ;) Look at the post times, we posted at the same time ;)

I suspect the majority of us mac users really don't give a toss given they don't usually see these files ;-)

Since the central point of sauer file exchange is at quadropolis, then maybe email the site/service managers there and ask if they would like to automatically run a script across all incoming zips to delete the .DS stuff.

Adding this to the Guides section of Quadropolis would have been a better idea, IMHO. But is it really so much of a problem? I'm a Mac user, so I might not know.

i dont use mac, if i get map from quad, i dont really give a toss if there is something else in there... im sure these files dont amount to much extra size being added to the archive or on disk

Yeah, but if you unzip through the directories (I don't) the extra files/folders start building up in your target directory. It's not about size.
