player speed modifyer

I'm trying to find a way to bind a player's max speed to that player's health. EG: if they have 10% health then they only have 10% of their maxspeed.

i'll confess i'm still learning C++.

I can't figure out how to do it.

i've made a health variable for physent and when a player takes damage i tell it to also deduct from that helth value.

then i try ..maxspeed -> ..health (respectively for pl, cl, ect...) and it's not working.

I must be missing something.
How can i accomplish it so that speed is subject to health?
