Any Ideas to improve my fps in cube ?

Hey guys, have you got any ideas for improving my FPS when playing cube 1 or sauerbraten?

My Specs are:
Pentium 2 400Mhz
512mb ram
Geforce 5200 128MB
Ubuntu Feisty

try the -b16 commandline, reduces colours from 24 to 16bit mode, its faster :p

reduce your resolution and disable the shaders in sauerbraten also.

Basically you have three options:

Option 1)
Use 640x480, with "shaderdetail 0" set from console.

Option 2)
Use 320x240, with shader detail on max, but "-a4" command-line option so that it doesn't look all pixelated.

Option 3)
Use maybe 800x600 or 1024x768 with "-f" commmand-line option to disable shaders entirely.

Mix and match depending on what visual quality you want.

499??? What kind of machine do you have??? Wow.

I have a 7-year old machine with 256 RAM, 2.00GHz CPU, 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra card. I disable all shaders, and play with 800x600. It's decent, about 15-20fps on metl4. About 1 on Thor lol.

I tend to get 150FPS on skycastle. (waterreflect on, shaderdetail 3)

no, he's not. With an 8800gtx I routinely get 499 FPS (the most the game can do[or was it 500... I forget])

lol my machine can't even read skycastle it's so big... I would think that 640x480 with no shaders on and maybe -a2 would be fine. On my machine that would go about 30fps on metl4. Still 1 on Thor though...

Flying banana cakes, I've got an 8800GTS and the FPS fluctuates between 170-220, drops to <90 on hades :(

At least the BioShock demo is running nicely :D

lol I just broke my video card! It stunk anyway, so I'm looking forward to getting one with at least 256MG of dedicated graphics... The card still *works* but barely. Sauer crashes after it boots up, and Cube 1 only has 5PFS LOL! 320x240 with -a4 looks fine and ran blazing fast (when my card was working).

U May not able to run sauer at all 450 p2 is ok for cube1 But not for sauer sauer need At least a 766 mrh cpu
and a geforce 4 or a ati 8000 or above card with at least 32 mb of vram

Memory on the card means naught for comparison purposes. Case in point, a 256MB Radeon 9600XT vs 128MB GeForce 6600GT. The 6600GT wins, about nineteen times over.

Vram is not a rare commodity when running Sauerbraten anyway.

2048MB RAM
Windows XP SP2
NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT (512 megabytes of RAM)

And i'm running at 1024*768 @ 24 bits colours, antialiasing x4 (and maxreflect 8) and i'm running at 180 fps in metl4, 70 in river_c, 20 <-> 200 in skycastle, etc.
