Same thing with me. I connect over lan, but there is no one else in the game.

Try having the clients connect with
/connect ip
whereas ip is the adress of the server in the network.

Exactly. A server bound to 127.0.0.1 will only be accessible by the same computer. Just run a server normally and have the other clients connect to the server's IP.

-mlocalhost only keeps the server from registering on the masterserver ... I guess you confused it with "-i".
If you are really trying to run on a LAN the "/lanconnect" command should actually work ... but - of course - "/connect 192.168.123.123" (or whatever non-routable subnet/IP you're using) will always work too.

I had a lan party and here is how I set up sauer.
1 computer is running server.bat after you edit it to say -llocalhost
Then, on the same computer run sauerbraten, and type
/connect localhost
Then, run sauer on each computer, and type
/lanconnect
That worked fine for me.

-m != -l
-m for masterserver, with -mlocalhost just being a nice default for "don't register"
-l for startup-map ... which doesn't affect a server
please take care when trying to help not to write stuff obviously bogus, thank you.

Does lanconnect work via Hamachi as well? I've not tested that yet.

Yep. It works fine. Ping have been around 75 on my ISP (free.fr) on a 2,5 megabyte connection

See what happens ... conorjkirk ...
See posts #4 and #8 to find out where he lead you astray ... "-l" != "-m" ... oh ... and RTFM (e.g. docs/config.html)

well if your VPN is setup correctly it should work - regardless of the VPN-software used - since the non-routable packets are tunneled.
