Using catalyst 7.7 on Sauerbraten now results in low frame rate, very bright looking maps, and the error message "Could not set gamma. (card/driver does not support it.)".
Anyone else get this? I'm using the latest, and several month old CVS versions of the coming release. All have the same problem.

Try to use an older Catalyst then. Sometimes, latest drivers arenĀ“t that good for some games ;)

I'm back on 7.6 now, but I felt I should report it here.
So, with proper investigation a bug report can be filed with ATi.

or just ask for your money back.
It's likely that their problems are beyond bug fixes.

Unofficial drivers are a lot better for older ATI cards. Don't know what's your model but if it's older and you got time it would be best to search for unofficial stuff and experiment with quality/performance. Switching official Catalyst with Omega for Radeon made a very big difference on my system, great improvement in performance with little loss in quality. This should be configurable in the official drivers but I couldn't manage to do what I wanted either because of misconfigurations on my system or bad ATI support for my model (or my two left hands - but that's very unlikely of course:)
