Server ping times - SURVEY

by GNU.Jeffz on 06/17/2007 03:02, 10 messages, last message: 06/19/2007 10:46, 1058 views, last view: 04/11/2024 01:20

hi

I notice that some of the european severs are quite popular, local users of which have a ping 60-150 or so.

Those abroad usually range from 250-400. I often get about 340 on the conquerors.

I have a server hosted in a datacentre located in California on a really thick pipe. I'm located in Australia, and I average 185ms to this server in sauerbraten.

What I would like to ask everyone is what kind of latency do they see for the server listed as 'jeffz.name' on the server list?

I do see people playing there from time to time, but not as much as the "more latent" servers.

Thanks.

yup, thanks Passa.

btw, as the crow flies - from Sydney to Cali its around 10,000km, from Nice, France (first city that came to mind) to Cali is around 9000km as the crow flies.

Jeffz: you could make it easier by giving us the IP of the server...

Drakas, not sure why you\'d ask.

It\'s listed on the master server list.

but anyway.
its hostname is jeffz.name - my domain for my website. ip. 64.62.195.35

I don't see it from within sauerbraten. Anyway, you gave the IP, so I connected: 200 ms. An I pinged:

--- 64.62.195.35 ping statistics ---
11 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 9% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 200.165/201.544/205.424/1.545 ms

=)
I am in Switzerland BTW.
