Hello,
I've been watching this engine for a while, and just found someone online to play with. The game plays beautifully, but there seems to be noone playing!!!
The last update was a couple months ago, the last post, about a month ago, and there is no central place for servers to identify themselves (ie: a master server), and the community is so scattered, its almost impossible to get any kind of message out to anyone.
Is this project dead, or is it secretly being worked on by Aardappel, who is sitting on it like a pile of gold?
Has anyone tried to make some kind of server browser (other than the one at CubeWorld, which sucks IMO), master server, or some kind of query system that stores active servers in a list?

I played jk2 for a while, but the game had balancing problems, and using a random number generator in any aspect of determining damage makes a game kiss goodbye to tournament play.
CTF was fun though, because with the right mix of speed, jump and force push you could blow past any number of people and grab the flag easy. :)

I agree with Aard that in-game browsers are best (quicker and easier, generally), but I would have thought that a simple web-based viewer could sit on top of the same master server database to just provide a window into all the current games. Then you've got the best of both worlds :)

I don't ever use eye or gamespy, but I think it would be REALLY good if you can get Cube on there. I love the game, but I'm lucky to find 1 other person playing.

It would be interesting to see if Qtracker could be set up to work with Cube. It's like GS Arcade, but with a lighter client.

#44: the mac os x port should help |

we mac users are in desperate need of good games. any decent games that do come our way are poorly coded (and require twice the horsepower of the pc equivalents) and arrive about 3 years after their debut. the cube looks very cool, very fun, and the price is definitely right. i heard about the cube because of an insidemacgames.com article which is very good for mac publicity. i'm fairly certain that if mac users hear about this, they will definitely play online (especially people like me, whose computer can't handle the latest and greatest multiplayer games). there is also an os x tool for finding online partners for many games called "onlymortal", which offers an api so that game developers can build in support for the application. once the mac port is done, i'll definitely spread the word on the message boards of which i'm a member.
