For Sauerbraten to be a better Deathmatch game, it needs a more robust movement system. Strafe-jumping, or double jumping are almost essential to truly make a robust game.
Basically, if the developers could add something where each jump accelerates you (see painkiller http://www.gamershell.com/download_6460.shtml)
Or where you can jump once again in mid-air (see ut2004 http://data.unrealtournament.com/UT2004-Demo3334.exe)
And along with this slow down movement speed, I think that it would attract a much larger crowd.

You go faster when you jump like a lunge in Sauerbraten, but in Quake 3, and other games, you actually continue to speed up, like 320ups, 500ups, 550ups, etc, and I think this could serve as a more interesting gameplay mechanic, along with air control so you can accumulate more speed.

Actually, I personally dislike all that "jump-acceleration" in current games. It is the opposite of what happens in the real world (yeah, no real argument) plus it makes everyone hop around like a rabbit; ridiculous.
I agree that the new airspeed is great and makes the game even faster and feels somehow smoother, though, but I would oppose to more accumulation of acceleration.

Have people watched the ogro from third person? The poor little guy is flipping out just to marginally match up with the ground. Cube and Sauer are already really, really fast... every time my roommate talks me into playing Halo or some other FPS I rage against how slow it is.

The changes in this release that effect speed/jumps are the first in a while to effect the "feel" of sauer. I figured people would complain some. I thought it was a good change.
That "jump while in the air" crap is annoying, and I agree with tentus about sauers speed...it's very fast already. Fast enough.

You should try watching the game from a chasecam, I was watching the bots in SauerMod and the camera goes beserk following them.
