Server ports...?

hi, i am having trouble getting online with Sauerbraten. i am connected to a router(fire wall) and i cannot connect to the masterserver. is there a port i need to open or a something? please let me know what i need to do to be able to play online.

The master server is a regular HTTP server, I'm guessing by posting here you can already access those. In relation to ports for Sauerbraten, read the manual, that's what it's there for. If you need more in depth information, refer to the wiki: http://cube.wikispaces.com/Multiplayer+Guide

well i entered those 2 ports into the router but it didnt help.

when i hit "update server list" i get the message "Master server not replying". could this be my web proxy getting in the way? im on an intel mac btw(mac os x 10.4.9)

Yes, please try to run the server without a proxy, i guess that´s the problem. You also should be sure to open the port both in your router and firewall. Just try out ;)

as quin says - if you can surf/post here that's no different than using the serverbrowser - sauerbraten just requests a simple text via http.
Unless you're maybe running something like ZoneAlarm (on Windows) ... dunno what Mac's might have there ... which requires each single applications to be allowed to access the internet individually.
