I was recently kicked out of one of my favorite servers, "The-Conquerers" because the game mode was multiteam and I was invited by whoever had mastermode (Dstresed) to join his team. I had not played multiteam before and when i did not he banned my IP. Is there any way to change my IP or get reinstated, or am I missing something?

As eihrul stated, he will simply be forced to block you from the masterserver.

Why not using a master password and giving it to some few ppl you can trust, so when there is someone doing this stuff, he can be kicked easily by ppl who are online already ?! ;)

Hi Passa,
sorry this is not the way of a constructive discussion. There are many problems with cheaters and other people who simply like to disturb a game.

The problem are a few players who have tried to attack especially our (popular) server by the following means:
1. they used our clannames and randomly kicked people for no reason (in order to weaken our reputation)
2. They went onto the server, kicked us just the moment we entered and set the mastermode to 3 right after, which locked us out and forced us to restart the server.
3. The went to the server and set it to mastermode 2 when noone of us was around - only in order to prevent a good game to take place our server.
We use a professional server and pay a monthly rent for it. We understand Eiruhl\\\\\\\'s Position, b/c it is really a pain in the ass sometimes if noone can be a master. Nevertheless it is a pain for us too to pay for something an and have to accept that we might get kicked, banned locked out and so on from our own server....
We are working on a solution for this and will open the mastermode as soon as possible. until then, please give us some time.

...which does not mean for a long time: we already have an idea for a solution but need to realize it.
Thanks!

Once again, the creators of the game have told you to stop disabling mastermode. Either listen to them, or don't run a server. Period. YOU HAVE NO CHOICE IN THIS.

A server admin should be free to make any server policies they wish. It's not attractive for the game's developers to dictate the rules to everyone, rules should be decided by the community. If you disagree with mastermode being disabled then don't play on that server. There are still servers with mastermode enabled.
I run a server with mastermode enabled, but to prevent the server being hijacked the loopback client is protected from the rogue admin and can join the server in any condition. Of course, the server is only safe when the loopback client is connected, but it's better than the server owner not having control over his server.

The CVS server has a command-line flag to disable mastermodes 2 and 3 (but leaving mastermodes 0 and 1). CVS is still protocol compatible server-wise with the GUI-release clients (although the CVS clients should not be used with GUI-release servers).
Thus, I would recommend using the CVS server with MM 2 and 3 disabled, rather than turning it off entirely.

Isn't it possible to send a password to the server to override mastermode? I read somewhere that you could do this.
In which case, the answer would be that all clan members have the password and ip of the server to hand, so as to join the server, and assume master mode (cleaning up the mess).

Thanks Eiruhl. Exactly this was the idea (to disable at least mastermode 3 for people not using the password). I will forward your suggestion the one who is doing the our programming/mods as soon as I meet him and we will unlock the mastermode again.

Why so many workarounds (disabling modes 2 and 3 and other stuff) if a simple "connect as master" function would do it??
