i think it would be great if their was a time where the cube community could be fairly sure of finding someone to play against, for example we could goto a certain server on an evening at a certain time, at the moment its almost impossible to find somone to play against
just a thought Piglet

it's fairly irrelevant which servers actually work unless a certain time can be worked out for people to meet up on them.

first to #5 I had to take down the server on godzilla.uib.no -- no worry it's alive on another server: Ludo.uib.no. Hopefully another setup of the box or a new version of Cube will help.
and #7 is probably right :-) isn't there a irc channel where you can hang around waiting for players?

Your best chance is #cube on irc.gamesnet.net

barely everyone is actually active on irc and their even less likely to actually want a game. Thats why i think we need a regular play time.

well the amount of poeple r gettin better now, it's not hard to find anyone anymore but when i first got this game(i was under the name jerkass) it was impossible to find anyone, there was like 5 unnameds and 3 nammed guys, so its gone along way you can get people to play with you just about anytime

That's weird..there seems to be a server active very often.
Well it's the timezones. It's the middle of the night where you are where I am. ;P
I like godzilla.uib.no, however - best pings and most active.

I found a game at 2am today. That's usually a dead zone because everyone in NA has gone to bed and everyone in Germany is at work or still sleeping (if you live like me).
I kept my resolution at 1152x864 so that I could get a feel for what the people with crappy cards would get for performance on my maps. It's only recently that I set it to 800x600. I forgot how liquid smooth Cube was capable of feeling. Even when Q3 claims to be running at a comparable fps, Cube feels smoother.

..it seems to find more servers if I go to refresh from master server everytime.
godzilla is OK, but I see ubercuber wins on ping, with cindy.coldmoon second.

Same here, I always use the online browser. The in game one misses servers a lot.

The in game server browser needs work. It keeps failing to get stats from a server when the online version grabs it fine.

I was talking about the in game browser. Just use the "refresh server list from master server" (more or less) option. I'm not sure that sticks for later or if I had a file set to read-only due to backup from CD-R. This "online version" (think I know what you're talking about) still different?
Re: #14, just setting the resolution higher won't let you feel what a slow CPU is like. I'm now seeing my SP levels aren't as hard as intended with a decent CPU.

I'm not going to go as far as to yank out a stick of ram and underclock my cpu.
