.BAK files?

by SlingerX2 on 02/24/2007 21:53, 2 messages, last message: 02/24/2007 23:16, 849 views, last view: 04/26/2024 00:00

I\'ve saved my maps over and over again, andlooking through my maps folder I found next to my newest saves some .bak files, which had the map name then random numbers. bak I\\\'m assuming means backup. So here comes questions:
1. are they renamed ogz files? Because i have a save of a map and a previous one, the current one was saved while an idiot was destroying the whole map.
2. In relation to the above, can I rename the .bak files into .ogz and play them? Or do I have to use commands ingame to revive these dusty files? I would like to revert to the old save if possible.
3. If neither of the above questions state the purpose of the files correctly, then what DO they acctually do?

Yep, every time you save the map, the previous save is renamed to a .BAK file.

Just change the extension from .BAK to .OGZ and you're away. Its saved my ass many times.

Sort the file list by date modified so you can sort out which backups are new and which ones are old and you'll be able to get your map back.
