Some images used to make the water look so neat.

Or something like that.

Sauerbraten doesn\'t have caustics for water. It only has reflection and refraction.

No, it doesn't. Caustics is an effect in which it seems as if waves are essentially casting shadows. Go underwater in the skycastle map, you'll notice the only shadows you see are shadows casted by level geometry.

Yes, yes it does. Here's proof: http://tunes.org/~eihrul/caustic.jpg

It does, but not in the current version. Grab the source from CVS, compile and see the caustics. ;)

I could be wrong, but i think that this is a great example of caustics in a samll animation. look at the lights around the rotating pyrimid

There are no caustics in that animation.

by Rasputin [NOR] on 02/21/2007 12:49

Damn... I really thought this was a new weapon. A water-pistol filled with caustic soda, or castic-soda-water-ballons.

Well, this really ruined my day.

So what is this about?
Instead of referring everyone to 'caustics examples', can somebody define what caustics are, in their own words?

Anyway, Wikipedia defined it better than anyone who tried in here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caustic_(optics)
