Everytime I hit f12 or /screenshot my system freezes. The game works fine any other time. There are no errors in the logfile /var/log/messages, and this is where my kern messages are output to.
System : Dell Lattitude 810 / SuSE Linux 10.1
Video Card : ATI Radeon X600
Misc : SDL 1.2.10 / SDL_IMAGE 1.2.5

Check your disk space? Try making a file yourself? Maybe your drivers are bad/old?
Are you sure that the system freezes?
Did you try compiling Sauer from source?

Thanks for the reply Drakas. My comments are embedded.
Check your disk space? Try making a file yourself?
-- Checked the Disk space and making a file and it is working fine.
Maybe your drivers are bad/old?
-- All Drivers are updated to the latest including the Video Card..
Are you sure that the system freezes?
-- Yes I am sure it is frozen. I try to access another terminal with ctrl-alt-f3 and nothing.Normally for a hung process this is availiable but not for a hung system.
Did you try compiling Sauer from source?
-- Yes it compiled with no error and it still freezes.
I even tried to upgrade SDL and SDL_Image since it looks like SDL_image is an integral part of the screen cap process, and no luck.

Have you tried logging in via SSH? CTRL-ALT-FN often stops working when X hangs.

Wanted to suggest that :)
Usually if going through SSH works, it's an X problem.

Ok here is the latest.
SSH does work when it freezes so I am assuming it is X that is frozen.
I reinstalled the driver and recreated my xorg.conf and it still persists.
I checked the log and there are no new entrys in any log after the freeze occurs.
I get this message when the ati kernel module is loaded
fglrx: module license 'Proprietary. (C) 2002 - ATI Technologies, Starnberg, GERMANY' taints kernel.
Here is my xorg log output when X is loaded this is specific to the fglrx driver.

#8: FIXED!!!!! |

I owe you a 12 pack Drakas. I followed the link and made a few changes as per their reccommendations.
The frst was for 'locking openGL apps'
Added the last to options in this section.
Section "Device"
Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]"
Driver "fglrx"
Option "Capabilities" "0x00000800"
Option "KernelModuleParm" "locked-userpages=0"
EndSection
Then on the page they say you HAVE to have at a minmum in the Module section,
Load "dri"
Load "glx"
Load "GLcore"
I was missing 'load "GLcore"'
So I dont know which one specifically fixed it but it works perfect. Thanks everyone for you input and help!!!!!

This also fixed my screen resizing issue after exiting the game. When I use to exit the game it would not return X to the original resolution. This is fixed now so no more resizing, yeah!!
