Anaglyph (Red/blue glasses)

Sauerbaten: December 3, 2006 release

DX 9.0c, XP Home SP2

GeForce 6150 LE (integrated) 64MB dedicated, 256MB Total.
Drivers: Forceware 93.71 with latest Consumer Stereo drivers that are for this forceware version.

Sauerbraten used to work before the fancy water (must add looks AWESOME) in 3D, but now seems to crash whenever the H2O gets in my FOV with the following error: http://va3atc.freeshell.org/temp/cube2_3d_crash.png

Sauerbraten Win32 Exception: numbers in screenie

drawreflections - water.cpp [713]
gl_drawframe - rendergl.cpp [1451]
SDL_main - main.cpp [492]
_tmainCRTStartup - crtexe.c [586]

Forceware 93.71 drivers are buggy (due to Nvidia focusing completely on their new DX10 cards). Stick with 92.91 or one of the NGO optimized Nvidia driver packs.

Anyway now that I've mentioned that random bit of info, first of all, your intergrated GeForce 6150 LE is not powerful enough to handle the water anyway, so for now disable it in the game's options.

Secondly, I don't think many people are familiar with 3D anaglyphic stuff, so you might need to elaborate on what it is, and how it works.

How I get anaglyph mode!!!!1111!11oneoneoneone

Of course, the problem is that it would suck for teamgames - Shoot the red guy, not the blue guy.... o_O

Oh, and for those who don't know: anaglyph is that old-fashioned red-blue 3D where you have blue over one eye and red over the other.

After some digging: yet another reason why ATI sucks :_(

Just received a pair of anaglyphs. I ordered them a week ago from some random shop (which happened to be on the other side of the world) and surprisingly - they came.. It's been two hours of happiness since I got them now :) For that time, however, I managed to see absolutely nothing in stereo except still images. I don't intend to say goodbye to my ati card, so there's no hope..

From first impressions on searching for anaglyph stuff on the net - computer-wise, it's mostly for nerds. Other types of stereo glasses give better results, no color loss, etc., and anaglyphs are not very commonly used for gaming. Some games have anaglyph support built-in - Serious Sam (haven't tried it, only heard), Quake (haven't tried it either; there's some glQuake port, while looking at the screenshot I couldn't see it in stereo, which probably means I may need to tweak colors or camera distance in the config files to get it working), Magic Carpet (cool but very old), some dinosaur game (forgot how it was called sorry) and of course tons of other games that I couldn't find, which could work for poor ati fans. Other important notes - anaglyph stereo gaming won't work for LCD monitors and will require 120hz refresh rate (I think). Currently I'm more interested in finding 3D apps. The one I know of that supports it, the Blender player, didn't work for me:/

For info on the anaglyph technology you can look here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaglyph_image
(first hit on google)

In short, from what I could gather, it works by combining two photos taken from different angle. When you look at the combined image through the red glass you see only one of the images, and the cyan glass filters the other image only. The reason for this to work is the same we get two eyes to see stereo. But this works only when they are positioned to the front - that's why chickens don't see stereo, for example. Therefore, if we are to render a stereo 3D image, we need to place at least two cameras looking in the same direction. If I can understand it you will too - just keep trying :)

#5: wrong requirements

The 120hz and no-LCD requirements are not for red-blue anaglyphs but shutterglasses.

Hopefully there's some truth in the rest of my info :)

#7: Solution

I had the same problem as well on my GeForce 7500 (not LE).

The solution was to use the game menu > performance and disable all the water reflections and the sort. Presto no more crashing :D

Just a note, ogresupply looks amazing in 3D whoever did that...

Curios - who is the voice over for such things as "health boost" and "quad damage"? Anyone from the IRC clan?
