Cube runs slow and "laggy" on my computer even though I have Counter Strike and Return to Castle Wolfenstein and they run absolutly fine on my computer. Can anyone try and help me out? Thanks.

#1: report card

by pushplay on 07/17/2002 03:19

Presentation:
thinkaboutblink has managed to avoid some of the common pitfalls of poorly written message posts through use of properly capitalization and good punctuation. Extra points for using please. However, he loses points over length. Berevity is important, but this is just uninformative.
6.0

Graphics:
Times New Roman is sooo yesterday.
2.5

Sound:
None.
5.0

Gameplay:
This is where the post truely suffers. It's near impossible to say what is wrong when there are no stats on the system, and even the description of the problem is lacking. This only leads to a frustrating experience on par with E.T. for the Atari.
0.25

Lasting Appeal:
The post lacks any replay value.

Pushplay, why don't you just try to help the man? It's not really going to help him to be made fun of. We really don't need a forum police, thanks.

thinkaboutblink: Pushplay has a point though, you need to be more precise about your system specs. Which OS are you running, what's your graphics card, which drivers do you use, what's your system specs?

#4: well excuse my creativity

I think he would be hard pressed to be insulted over such a light teasing, I wasn't seriously mocking him for his lack of sound and graphics.

If anyone can help this man working from the above description alone, I'll give that person a cookie.

I'm not saying you are wrong, I just find your tone wrong. Imagine coming to a message board for the first time asking a question (politely), and getting an answer like that... I'd be put off.

Sorry guys, I was in a rush, I have Windows 2000 (with service pack 2), 800 mghz, 128 megs of ram, and I'm not sure of my video card, it could be something to do with ProSavage. (Maybe you guys could tell me how to find it out...) "Please" any help at all would be great.

PS. Don't worry pushplay, I don't take any offense to your comments...

ProSavage is an integrated chip. I'm not a fan of on board anything, but maybe that's just me.

The first thing to try would be to download the latest drivers, either here: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2 or here: http://www.s3graphics.com/DRVVIEW.HTM

But first I would try to confirm that ProSavage is really what you have. That second url goes to a page which can point you to a utility to determine exactly what you have, I would try that first.

Thanks alot for your help. I'm still not quite sure which driver to download though. I got the program that says what kind of chip i have and is says my chips name is ProSavage (KM133) and the ID is: 8A26, now under the downloads there is a directory for ProSavage Drivers and once I get in there I'm not sure which one to download. Should I download the first one at the very top or the second one? Please anymore help would be great. Thanks.

You want the drivers under 370drv.

Right, I got to there, but I'm not just quite sure which one to download after you click on that, do I download: 139332s3logoIShld.zip or 139332snbxps3No_Utillogo.zip, I don't know what the diference is between them. Thanks again for the help.

You could download both of them, unzip them and then find out what they are eh?

I think my laptop has one of them savage thingies integreated into it also. Needless to say, CUBE looks like crapola on my laptop.

So I only run it on my system with the GeForce card in it. works great on that system.

That's my baby....
