Dumb install question

by zoso007 on 01/30/2007 07:45, 18 messages, last message: 04/15/2007 02:30, 2532 views, last view: 04/22/2024 01:09

After installing cube and trying to run sauerbraten_unix I get the error message "./bin_unix/linux_client: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL_image-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
"
How can I fix this?

I'm pretty sure it says in the DOCUMENTATION that you need to have libSDL-image installed, this is apparent from the message you receive.

Refer to your distros package management system to install the SDL-image libraries.

Ok thanks Jeff, I got the program running now, but its only running at 1 FPS!lol. I have a ati Radeon M300, 1GB RAM, and centrino 1.8 mhz. Am I lacking that much in performance to play this game?

Wow, that question is almost QUOTED from the example question in the manual.

You're using MESA drivers, install proper drivers to get hardware acceleration.

Heheh, speaking of which - anybody know how to set up OpenGL support on an old voodoo2? I just set up my legacy box with Xubuntu and was curious to see if I could get Cube running.

I know I am such an idiot here, but what manual are you talking about. I read all the readmes from the package and don't see anything about that. Also what kind of drivers should I be using? Does anyone have a link they could give me? Thanks.

http://www.sauerbraten.org/

3D acceleration support is not anything to do with Sauer. Ask your distro's supporters for 3D hardware acceleration support.

You do have the libs installed, but you don't have the libs installed *properly*, that's what I assume.

is there a way to check this? I ran YUM update and install and it showed that i have them installed. When installing Cube for the first time, does it matter where you put the folder? It is ready to go out of the box so to speak, or do I need to compile it?

Have you restarted or run ldconfig yet?

ldconfig -v | grep libSDL_image

Should tell you if it is in a registered library directory.

http://fuckinggoogleit.com is a real website xD

------------OnTopic------
go on Synaptic and get SDL gfx, image, mixer and sound.. I think those are the only required ones.

Also be sure to have your graphic card's drivers...

i had your problem with the SDL_sound package... a simple "complete remove" and then install again in synaptic fixed the problem :)

since he mentioned yum he is most likely on an RPM based distro, therefore no Synaptic

Why the devil does yum say its insalled? :P
Is there a quick fix like the package installer or do i have to download each individual lib and install?(headache)
