Cube-TC: ActionCube Public Release (v0.9)

ActionCube is released !

After 2.5 years of silent spare time development we are proud to bring the first beta release to the public.
It´s a full feature, complete game, masterserver available.

ActionCube is a team-oriented total conversion of the cube engine, themed in a realistic looking environment (as much as it can get in cube of course). That´s just the theme though.
Gameplay is fast and arcade.

We had lots of fun doing this, and we basically were noobs in our fields when we started.
We learned a lot, cursed a lot \o/´ed a lot, sweat a lot, kicked each others asses a lot; and now it´s finally done.
It was a great experience and we hope you´ll give it a try and have fun.

You might ask "Cube-mod? wtf?! Why not Cube2?"

When we started in July 2004, Sauerbraten was still labelled "for devs and adventurous mappers only".
When the first mature release of Sauerbraten was out a year later, we decided to stick with cube rather than forking off an uncomplete, early-stage Sauer-version.

A port of ActionCube to ActionBraten might be considered at some point in the future, when the Cube2-FPS has somewhat reached a final state.

Well, it *could* be done with 1 extra and one altered line, I don't think that's the problem.
Maybe changing the result-name from "captcha_result" to something less obvious would help. ;D

I don't quite know what he meant with "fases" in his first post ... but he really likes CS ...

In the second post he sez he installed XP and now Cube doesn't "get it on" ... supposedly it worked under the previous Win32 installation.

I guess he should try installing drivers for his gfx, huh? ;)

I have never dropped in on this forum so i think nows a good time. I thinkthat ActionCube needs some more maps. I know tons of people who think so too. Darth_gerdan, BlindaBuser, and Spury to name a few. I have just released ac_prison and I have had people say they wanna see it in the next release. Hop on quadropolis.us and download DEVS... please. Ive tried 4 times to get one on the game and have failed. So hopefully this one does it. Its called AC_PRISON.

I got the game last night and played it for six hours - I liked it so much that I'm now running a dedicated 64 man server and an 8 man ventrilo server for it. The server IP will match the one you are directed to by http://fett.co.nr , and the ventrilo IP is the same. Thanks so much to the devs!

Yes, there is need for more AC maps. However we are quite picky and only include high-quality maps in AC. I'm not saying your maps are bad, but we want to keep our high standards, this game should show the very best stuff that can be created with the cube engine.
