ActionCube is released !
After 2.5 years of silent spare time development we are proud to bring the first beta release to the public.
It´s a full feature, complete game, masterserver available.
ActionCube is a team-oriented total conversion of the cube engine, themed in a realistic looking environment (as much as it can get in cube of course). That´s just the theme though.
Gameplay is fast and arcade.

We had lots of fun doing this, and we basically were noobs in our fields when we started.
We learned a lot, cursed a lot \o/´ed a lot, sweat a lot, kicked each others asses a lot; and now it´s finally done.
It was a great experience and we hope you´ll give it a try and have fun.
You might ask "Cube-mod? wtf?! Why not Cube2?"
When we started in July 2004, Sauerbraten was still labelled "for devs and adventurous mappers only".
When the first mature release of Sauerbraten was out a year later, we decided to stick with cube rather than forking off an uncomplete, early-stage Sauer-version.
A port of ActionCube to ActionBraten might be considered at some point in the future, when the Cube2-FPS has somewhat reached a final state.

Well, that's for sure the best cube/sauer mod ever. Looks gorgeous, esp when you consider the aging engine underneath :)

This game is amazing! You are an inspiration to cube modders everywhere, because your the only mod succesful, that changed a vast array of code. You have shown the way mods should be completed. By keeping your mouth shut, and having your plans kept incognito until you released a beta, you obtained no quams or disbeliefs, but instead you released a beta out of the blue. This is how all mod teams should go about their business, good job! I enjoyed playing it myself, the best of luck to you!

Thought I'd use ActionCube's release as an opportunity to sorta open my site. Its still under contstruction, but its basically a player hub for ActionCube/Sauerbraten/Cube players. Organised leagues and whatnot are going to be run soon.

Not my type. By the way, I ran into some bug, pretty sure it has already been reported but here it is just in case - while trying the knife in single player against a bot I got kicked out with this error - "loadmodel: packages\models\misc\gib0-1\tris.md2". Hope this helps.

Suggestions:
- Game is a bit slow. Give it Cube speed and will be great. :P
- Auto reload option

drian: interesting bug in round based modes (this happened in last swiss standing) throw a nade once the round has been won by yourself, and it will explode in the new round. Not a serious bug, but I realised it once I threw a nade in celebration when I won, only to spawn back right near it, luckily it far enough away not to hurt me :)
So not a major bug (I've had some crashes with bots, but they're mostly random) so good work on a mostly stable first public release :D
COME ON PEOPLE GET OUT THERE AND PLAY!! The only game of CTF I have played was with all the devs lol!

Thanks for the reports Passa and sinksky, those things are being looked upon and are already tracked down.
Passa your crashes with bots probably the same as the gib-bug sinksky reported?
ac_depot has been clipped correctly too.

makkE, you rule. Now I can combine my love of cube with my love of tactical shooters. One thing that I would like to see would be the ability to pick up fragged players weapons, as it can be a productive way to temporarily change adapt to changes in the flow of the game.
