Oh dear, there are about 50 threads on this already, use the goddam search function.

YES people play it still, update the server list in Cube and you will find more servers than there are for Sauerbraten (a smaller amount of players generally though).

Now STOP SPAMMING THE FORUM PEOPLE!!

Passa, what´s up with you lately?
Take a deep breath and relax.. This is an ok thread imho.

I still play cube. :) It seems though the number of servers is decreasing slowly.
I still find players around.
The ESL is still playing cube too.

"Passa, what´s up with you lately?"

Ehh you don't want to know :-(

[NoS]Ozzie: Alot of people still play Cube, like I said there are more servers for it than Sauerbraten, but unfortunately its player base is dying very very quickly.

For me I find its great for instagib as alot of the classic maps from Cube will probably never see the light of day in Sauerbraten (due to license restrictions, alot of the original authors arent in the community anymore or they just cbf porting it over as it requires alot of work).

And it runs well on my laptop!

Passa: Look in defaults.cfg or config.cfg or some other config file. I found that you can find the actual ability to import cube maps into Sauer :) I didn\'t test it yet but should work!:)

Yes, its been in Sauerbraten for a while, the limitation is porting maps without the authors permission :-)

As far as I have seen the ability to import cube maps is quite buggy (only one example is the water). When will it be fixed (no flaming, I am convinced the authors are things that are a lot more interesting. I only would like to ask, nothing else).

Wolfgang, there´s no bugs in the cube-import. Water and lights can´t be importet. Heightfields will not import properly all the time. This is due to the world structures of both engines being quite diffrent.

I still love Cube. Very hardware friendly and there are some damn cool maps. I played Cube for a while last night, after Sauerbraten.

I've never played any kind of games online though, I just use single player modes.

Yes, the import works pretty good, except for the "limitations" that makkE pointed out.

Try using earlier versions of Sauer to import CUBE maps. For some reason, earlier versions (try the Occlusion release) imports heightfields (such as arches) better. Then I just used the "optimize map" command and all went well.

My mpsp6 sp map started life in CUBE, but then I imported it into Sauer to complete. I've also imported mpsp4 & mpsp5 with little trouble. Just deciding if I will complete them for Sauer.

Like I said, everything is fine with converting Cube maps to Sauerbraten. The problem is getting permission to do so.

A lot of the authors are still here, you might be able to ask them for permission to port the map.
