This talks about how to make normalmaps:
http://www.doom3world.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?p=146379&sid=33b1c3a3b2ae95d9b119bcfe31e6a27e
Not shure about the importing process into sauer.

to use them in sauer you simply put "texture n path" after the "texture 0 path" that the normal map coresponds to

Normalmapping (dot-3 bumpmapping) is a special kind of bumpmapping. And since it´s the only bumpmapping we use, it means the same in sauer.

thought I should add this -
making a normalmap for a texture is more work than simply running a filter on a texture. If you create the normalmap directly from a diffuse layer ( the basic texture ) you will end up with an odd looking texture. If you are going to make normalmapped textures, you need to make a heightmap of the diffuse layer BEFORE making a normalmap.
If you do not do this, you're not making the texture correctly, and despite the fact that it will work, it just will not look correct.

That's a coincidence, I have an extraordinarily large willy, but I don't want anyone to see it either.
