http://www.myzel.net/hungerburg/masterserver
Thats where i got the server.
Here is what i have done so far.
I've put the master server in at
http://faithnation.com/cgi-bin/cube/masterserver.pl
I currently get this error:
can't open srv.dat: No such file or directory at /cgi-bin/cube/masterserver.pl line 212
isn't it supposed to create that file?

I've done the permissions, i made masterserver.pl executable. Could the perl be broken?

Perl tells you exactly what is wrong; you need to fix the missing srv.dat - file. ;)

When i create a blank srv.dat file i get this message:
Magic number checking on storable file failed at ../../lib/Storable.pm (autosplit into ../../lib/auto/Storable/_retrieve.al) line 328, at /cgi-bin/cube/masterserver.pl line 212
So, apparently, the server runs on Magic

"The server runs on Magic"?? What`s that?
No; there is something wrong with an empty srv.dat because the script tries to do something with it. You should first check the file`s integrity before doing something with it (better) or make sure that you always provide the correct srv.dat file (worse).

Yeah, i think i might have gotten a bad source or something, because i followed all the directions. Do you happen to know of a place to get the source?

your URL is my source of source too
although - AFAIK - the official position is that the masterserver isn't open-source (although the file says otherwise) ...
... hence my reluctance to go into details.
But I managed to get it working with what's there. Did you chmod 777 the directory?

yeah. I tried it again, without changing any of the file this time. I followed all the directions until i got the error. I did 777 on the cube directory, 755 on masterserver.pl
when i run it, i get
can't open srv.dat: No such file or directory at /cgi-bin/cube/masterserver.pl line 212

The master server used on sauerbraten.org / cubeengine.com is not open source. It's a java implementation.
The script you guys have downloaded is "unofficial". It was developed by a third party (I don't know who).

Is there a chance of it becoming released to the public?
