An Intro? What for? To bridge the 3 seconds while the new map loads?

The in-game demo save/load could be interesting for speedruns. Or for training (you could watch how a friend played or something like that).

not interesting at all.
Sauer doesn't load maps for 2 minutes. It takes less than a second. I don't see where movies would come in ^^

I think he means more of a cinematic type thing, not something to just make map changes interesting...

for sp obviously. and not to watch while loading, seriously. not many games have cutscenes just to wait for things to load. face it, sooner or later a vid player will be added to sauer or its future successor

A good example of this would be in trackmania where they load up an intro movie before racing. I think its actually a pretty cool idea.(although it will never get implemented)

Make and option to turn it off.

Also suggested cinematic: do some cool move around the baull before fighting him (read cyberdemon)

BTW, Does Sauerbraten license supports combining it with GPL code?

I'm under the impression you can combine it with any code? So long as it remains open source under the zlib license? The parts you add I believe can be a different license.. I'm not 100% sure.

Doesn't GPLed code auto-GPL any code it's combined with? If so, wouldn't that be against Sauer's license?

it would be useful to create movie textures

also, alpha textures would be nice, aside from just additive.

what about 'frosted glass'?

No, this is exactly the reason why we did not use the GPL, because everything it is combined with has to be GPL too.

Combining GPL'd code with Sauer's code violates the GPL.

Well, they have gotten away from the idea of playing it when loading maps, like how about a cinematic before you battle the baul.
