if you want to bind keys for the game use sauerbraten's README.html and look for "bind" and/or "editbind".

if you are truly asking about code then you should really get some introduction into C++ ... by reading books (on internet and/or hardcopy) and really writing stupid test-case code yourself. coding is no art you can learn by reading a forum, ... sorry.

can't you do a bind type command IN SOURCE to set the keys? what are the sdl key commands?

In source? Why?

Even if you wanted to distribute a copy of your modifications for some reason, you could simply change the key bindings in autoexec.cfg and then distribute just that file - without even recompiling Sauerbraten.

There's no reason to set key bindings in the source that I'm aware of...

no, put key bindings in source so they arn't changeable by the user. otherwise I wouldn't be asking...

WHY would you want to deny a user the ability to change keybindings? That's just shooting yourself in the foot...

(I won't judge if you should or shouldn't do it; even though I think the user must have as much customizability as possible)

It is possible to hard-code commands, but that will be harder to do than just editing some .cfg files at "data" directory.

And if you really want to do it, you must really know how to program, and know how to program in C/C++. MeatROme is right, you can't become a programmer (specially a C/C++ programmer) by just reading a forum. Much more work is needed.
