Cube & Cube 2 FORUM

New forums?

by Aciid on 10/09/2006 13:23, 39 messages, last message: 10/23/2006 07:55, 9864 views, last view: 05/18/2024 01:01

This forum is quite nice its compact and everything but its not userfriendly.

The topics should be gategorized and there should be permament user accounts.

and the search function is hard :S

Could u start to use phpbb or some else forum management system. thx :S

#1: Forums......

Aard already explained why we don\'t need new forums,Please search before you post and worsth of all you just posted a new topic for a pointless reason.

I don't like 'all-purpose' forums, cuz
1) they use more resources
2) they provide useless buttons, useless info and other useless whishies-farties that isn't used by anyone

Aciid: The forum is like this because some people don't like "ellegant" phpBB style forums, which, IMO are totally crap!!!

Forum is for communication, not for design.
If you don't like, don't use it - simple as that!

Well, at the first time I didn't understand what was happening, but now it seems really user-friendly, who knows what they're doing. What a great forum ;)

Oh yeah, lets install phpBB instead. I want posts that take up my entire screen, consist of mostly a recursive block of "quotes" with each random sig images, an actual line of text saying "yeah thats cool", or "I want it" (in 1337, then), followed by a huge animated gif flashing logos of the poster (who is 14 years old and his only credit in life is cheating in counterstrike), and a large avatar on the left of some random girl in a bikini.

Reading a thread on this forum is wonderful: all text on screen is actual content. And don't worry we have plans for further improvements.

#8: I have grown to like it.

I didn't like this forum too much originally, but it really grows on you - it's simple, easy to understand and read, and easy to see what's new.

In fact, for real bug-tracking and wish-lists, I suggest a real bug-tracking system, like bugzilla or like the sourceforge bug-track.

lol, thats pretty funny because it perfectly sums up the average phpBB forum. I'm not very 'k3wl' on most forums because I havent made me a '1337' signature image yet.

if you have phpbb or whatnot you could always edit the source and take out things you don't like, leaving only the needed stuff.

Ideas #1 and #2 are going to be features of the new forum. #3 is not going to make it, but you won't realize it because censored posts are not going to be visible to regular users

If there are any more ideas, let's hear them. And please, if you post ideas, don't be offended if we discard them. Aard has very specific ideas for this forum, and in the end, it's his call. I'm just his web coding slave =).

SleepwalkR: Lol :)

So you made this forum? Very good job :)

Maybe changing tables to divs + CSS would be a good idea, for even better accessibility.

AArd ir totally correct, Pros don't need phpBB :)

Forum is about communication. Sending text. it is not about showing off how cool your signature or avatar is.

And somebody suggesting that taking phpBB and removing some source from phpBB would be good idea, they probably never seen it - a pile of crap that is!!! I'll never touch it again!!!

One improvement was that if you click the "refers to #28" link it took you actually to that message; this doesn't work for me (Camino, Gecko 1.8.x) ;-)
