Is there a way to get a new image on a .exe file? Is there a script or a setting in visual studio to set a new image for a compiled exe? How do developers get images on their exe's???

This question is not related to sauerbraten at all.
Do you mean the icon for .exe file?
Well, google it. It is M$s thing.

It is about sauer, after a built in resolution changer is made (and works) a batch won\'t be nescessary. Thus a exe will be used to start sauer and an icon would just make it look better. So I ask again, how do you add an icon the a exe file?

I think you're confused. Some people prefer running their programs from a console with arguments and switches, especially unix and linux users, which iirc is where the roots of this project lies. Can't you change the icon for a "shortcut" in Windows anyway?

Yes, you can. Who actually goes into their sauer directory to run Sauerbraten? The start menu is just a shortcut.
For example, when I made the Inno Setup installer for Cube (although I can understand why Sauer uses Nullsoft's installer instead) I made it use a custom icon for it - the same icon that's the Favicon for Quadropolis.
(also that installer provided shortcuts to edit the autoexec.cfg, batch file, launch help and the dedicated server).

The icon windows displays for an "exe" file is the first icon in the resource section. So if you create a resource file for the program, and place an icon in as resource 1 or 100 or whatever, as long as it is the lowest icon resource, it should appear.
Otherwise open it with a program like xn resource editor and add a resource (icon group) with the icon you wish to include. Make it resource number 1 (cause that is not being used).

Uh... for do a icon directly FOR the *.exe, create a .RC file to your dev. project and insert into it :
1 ICON your-fucking-icon.ico
That's with Dev-C++, dunno if it work with others IDE... but it should :)

favicon is a web-term (maybe someplace else too) and has nothing to do with an EXE's icon.
The icon of an EXE is part of it's ressources.
It can be added/deleted/modified after-the-fact by an app called "ResHacker".

The favicon is the small icon often seen next to the webbpage address in your browser.
