if you wanted to let the cheats "win", taking down the master server was the perfect way. Now they really have ruined the game for the masses, splitting people to different master servers, creating a place where not many people play together. Taking down the default master server was their biggest victory.

So what\'s the plan? I know it\'s long been said that they have no intention of making Sauer unhackable... but perhaps not-remotely-crashable is the goal? Prevent hard exploits that do serious damage, and let normal cheating be handled by admins using the kick features?

I hope this *will* happen. If people who make mods are not "welcome" at main masterserver, then they need another masterserver. So, they need the masterserver source.

Honestly, the master server is not very hard to code. I haven't seen how others have done it, but if you know a language like php it should be simple to do. You have register.do?action=add which just takes the ip and adds it to the list. Then retrieve.do?item=list just spits out all the current servers ip addresses, for an example of how it should look check out http://msm.wemew.org/retrieve.do?item=list

And you have a master server. The only other thing you should probably add is something that removes servers that haven't re added themselves in awhile.

If you sent the masterserver source to him, I must ask: why not publish it somewhere? (if not, then ignore this message)

I don't intend to make my own masterserver, but other people would want it.
