Occlusion Culling glitch(s)

by Max of S2D [Fr] on 09/29/2006 13:10, 6 messages, last message: 10/01/2006 07:31, 2431 views, last view: 04/28/2024 10:48

The last release increased somethin' like z-precision of the occlusion culling : maybe it wasn't a good idea...

Occlusion is broken in the drivers/hardware on ATIx800+mac, maybe on other video cards too.

Use /oqfrags 0 to turn off.

I can confirm that first screenshot. I've even posted more similar screenshots (in other maps). And I'm on Linux with GeForce FX 5500

#4: launch option to turn occlusion culling off

by guest57 on 10/01/2006 01:13

more a feature request - but for the latest CVS version it's a pain to have to set all of qfrags, oqwater & oqreflect to 0 to get rid of the occlusion bugs :/

In fact, occlusion is done to make the game faster. So, it should be enabled by default.

The point is to fix occlusion bugs (but I know this is not easy).

You can edit your autoexec.cfg to add commands to disable those options.

No, to fix the bug the developers should change the Z precision of the OC from 8 to 6 (it increased in the latest release)
