Video off centre?

When I execute the water edition of sauerbraten, I get a thick grey band at the top of the screen, and the rest of the screen below it. the bottom of the screen seems to "cut off" and I am unable to see the status bar or the FPS count.

maybe this picture will help.

I Have a NVidia GeForce 6100, and before you ask, No, this did not happen in the previous version.

I don't know what's going on with it, I try different resolutions with no results.

Alright, did that. Still no go. The only thing I could think of that could be causing this is my visual theme, but that should not interfere with the sdl window, right?

I'll run sauer without visual styles and see if that fixes it.

i had this problem a couple times with other games and all i did was to hit the auto-correct or auto-picture button on my monitor. if you dont have one try running in windowed mode.

Try editing sauerbraten.bat and changing the -w640 and -h480 to a higher resolution.

Hey, if the problem is at monitor, how could the screenshot be also corrupted?

Yeah, lol. And I don't think your visual themes have anything to do with it either, because I'm pretty sure the dev's can set up a viewport...

Have you tried doing stuff like turning off shaders, etc, and seeing if it works?

The most I can think is a too high refresh rate, then the videocard don't have time to redraw the entire screen before the next one starts being drawing. But, of course, it is just speculation.

Could it be old/odd video drivers?

#8: windowed

the auto-correct feature realigns the screen to fix any errors like that. my screenshots were also corrupted. but did you try windowed yet? that might help

Didn't say it was the monitor.

FYI, SDL uses simulated modes when the one it's trying doesn't work.

As for any mroe suggestions, if that's where your taskbar is, you might try turning off 'always on top'.

Looks like it's the windows taskbar...

Change 640x480 to 1024*768 ! :p

If its the Windows taskbar, then there must be some sort of problem with the video card drivers. Maybe try updating them?

the original poster hasn't posted here in a while ... maybe it's not even a problem anymore :)

I found that passing some strange combinations of command-line params could give me similar issues on my linux box.

So if it still is a prob. : please post your BAT file or whatever you use to start sauerbraten (params!)

well, updating your drivers will, in theory, fix all graphics problems. so go to your graphics card's website and download new stuffs.
