Hello People,

I\'ve got some problems with the new water version of Sauerbraten.
Just look at my screenshot:

http://www.filelodge.com/files/hdd2/22771/bug1.bmp

My system:

AMD 64 2800 clawhammer
1024 mb ddr 400
Gigabyte 6600 gt

Can somebody help me?

ps: how do I create such bump textures?

Next time, please DON'T use BMP images. They are too big. Prefer PNG or JPG.

Also, you could use http://imageshack.us/

Maybe you are using 16bpp? I got black, corrupt or wrong water reflection when using 16bpp.

Whats the version of your Nvidia drivers?

Seems to be a driver issue, or you didnt recalc the lights so it looks weird?

That is a known issue with running at 16 BPP. Run at 24 BPP for now and water will work.

It also occurs in 32bpp mode.
I tested with both Nvidia 5200 and 6600GT and got the black water.

With ATI 9600LE, at 32bpp, no problem.

(24 bpp mode not available : Windows 2K)

I am using Ubuntu Linux 5.10 and Xubuntu 6.04.1 and Zenwalk 3.0 with a NVIDIA GF6800LE the Watereffekt is correct, with a NVIDIA GF4MX I got the same old style water like in cube. Both running in 24bit Mode, so I guess the new water effect will only be viewable with newer grafik cards that supports newer GL Shaders.

True. GeForce 4 (MX) does not support that.
GeForce FX 5xxx supports that!

How about a ATI Radeon 9000?
Is the new water effect supported by this card?

It´s not a console command.
It´s a command line parameter.
Add it to your command line, or on windows, add it to the .bat file.

also it´s -z24

The N is just saying "numerical value here" for explanation.

still not working.

I've added: -b24 -z24 -a8

You can only use -a0 to -a4, however you can also set it in your driver settings to override any setting in sauer. (and not use the -a parameter at all).

What os?
If you use windows, you should use -b32.
Also, You won´t need to set -z24 when you use -b32-

And if your desktop runs 32bit, you won´t need to set it at all. It will default to the desktop colour resolution.
The -z and -b options are more useful for people who want to run it in 16 bit, contrary to their desktop settings.

#13: ATI RADEON 9000 Mobility

by mdkuser123456 on 09/17/2006 19:53

The new Watereffect is not displayed on my ATI RADEON 9000 Mobility, toggling from the menu does not have any effect, however on my Nvidia GF6800LE the water effect works correct.
What is wrong with the ATI?

Radeon 9000M is too old, it doesn't even support shaders.
